Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Yes, they are diffuse-field equalised to compensate for the proximity effect of the drivers to the ears. The result (when combined with the proximity effect) is a near perfect flat response.

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Yep! Assuming you have decent monitors and a decent room. Low Grade Hi-Fi speakers are made to please. Hi Grade Hi-Fi are even flatter than monitors. Also, if someone is used to how "flat" sounds, he might actually like your studio monitors best.

    Clipping after limiting

I thought like that and stayed away from the crunching until I found out that most (if not all) of the rock bands I like get their "crunchy gritty" sound by limiting the crap out of the mix. Furthermore, being competitive is so important in today's rock music....

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Listening to music as an enjoyment is different than listening to music for accuracy and flatness, something which the ear can't do well. When you buy monitors, you don't enjoy music, you want flatness and accuracy. And if you think flat monitors sound bad, you have to readjust your hearing to...

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

I'm a pro at creating a demand for a product :p Seriously, I will post some tracks once I get time to properly compose/arrange/track some stuff, which will probably be next summer. I won't post something I'm not at least 90% satisfied with. All of the time, when I'm not satisfied the...

    behringer eurorack mx 802a?

Behringer is the dude that does the following: 1) Encourages ASIAN labour 2) Reverse engineers and copies designs from other US manufacturers 3) Encourages people to buy low end gear rather than quality 4) Doesn't seem to understand that honor, quality, rigor and ethics are more important than...

    Clipping after limiting

You didn't do much to the overall loudness. Limit the shit out of that song! You can limit much more than this. It's not competitive enough. You have to peak some red on the limiter! IMHO, the Classic Limiter is bad for getting high levels. Sorry, I can't recommend anything better that's free...

    behringer eurorack mx 802a?

You should send a nice insult letter to this dude called Uli (??) Behringer and trash him good. He only deserves that.

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Well, this is one of the reasons I mix with high quality headphone systems. They take the room out of the equation and allow me to put my hard-earned money into something else than $100k room treatment. Indeed, according to me, it serves no purpose to use monitors in an unperfect room, since...

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

In fact, my primary tool for deciding if an audio product is good, is reading the specs. Then checking schematics and assessing the quality of the engineering that took part. Then inspect the parts used. Then I finally give it a go to hear how it sounds, but ears are about the worst intruments...

More often than not, you get what you pay for. We are not in a society where everything is equal yet.

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

The Mackies are undoubtely much flatter...look at the specs, very impressive in the case of the Mackies. And the Mackies were made in the USA last time I checked...BX8s were made overseas at some chineese sweat shop labour.

Using electrical cords as speaker wire

No, since it's NOT shielded. It can serve as a speaker wire but not mic/signal wire.

Using electrical cords as speaker wire

Who cares if the cable is big enough so that the resistance of the wire is minimal and the current capacity is right.

    Clipping after limiting

Yep, but lower the bass some before attempting to push too much, since low frequencies eat up a lot!
  17. T

    Clipping after limiting

You have room to push it much more. But there are some problems with your mix...the worst being that the bass is MUCH too loud. This doesn't help if you want to push the levels to the top.

Looking for inexspensive gear???? ***not spam!!!***

I don't care if Thunder is affiliated with Pulshittech, but what I know is that I wouldn't touch those $70 monitors without a 10-foot-pole  Thunder is NOT serious when he says he uses those for mixing. On another thread, he appeared to me as being the "peter pan of audio gear" by...

Intel Or AMD? will everything still work?

Thanks for the course... But based on what you said above, a faster front side bus is better, since a DAW does NOT perform compression and encoding, but transfers data. This is why I say AMD is better dude. The FSB is faster... With a DAW, you don't care about encoding and compressing data ...

    Is the DMP3 noisy?

Really, your best bet is to have them check out your unit and fix it if needed. If they claim your unit is fine and has no defect, then I would write a nice letter to them, explaining the noise levels are unnacceptable.
