Sounds like you need a compressor.
If the vocals range from very quiet to very loud you may need to do the loud parts and the quiet parts as 2 seperate tracks.
This came up before in another thread that I can't find right now, anyway, the official email response to that question from Soundcraft was something like - " The preamps are essentially the same ".
Found it - http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=47641&highlight=soundcraft
It seems like you are having trouble dealing with the fact that the monitors wont hype the lows and highs the way a consumer stereo system does. You already know the answer, just mix with the mids more forward than you are used to and dont, pump the bass and highs as much as you think you...
I assume you have the main outs feeding a PA system.
What you need to do is to assign all the channels to the main L-R mix AND to subgroups 1&2, just make sure that the subs are NOT assigned to the main L-R outs. Connect the sub 1&2 outs to the inputs of the soundcard.
To let the drummer hear...
If you are plugging the guitar directly into the dbx you are probably going to get an impedance mismatch which will cause the guitar to sound dull and lifeless. What you need to do in that case is to either run the compressor from the amps fx loop (if its a line level loop) or run it after some...
Is that the black one with the two VU meters on it? Pushes something like 500 watts? If so a studio I know has been using one to push it's NS 10s for years.
Once you use the channel direct outs and/or the board's subgroups (or alt 3/4) to send to the recorder you shouldn't have any problems with feedback loops.
Good Luck.
One of the happiest moments I have had while using a Behringer board was the time that I was doing a soundcheck for a small outdoor show, It was an EAW 850 system, two tops two subs per side. I balance the system and listen to a reference CD through it, sounds great, nice low end punch, lots of...
I mean no disrespect to you Peter, but if you aren't sure of the correct way to change strings, or what a floating bridge is, you probably should not get into the habit of messing with the truss rod. I think you should take your guitar to someone who knows his stuff and let him set it up for...
detuned6 is right, one of the bands that I work with has two guitarists, one has a 65 watt Peavey bandit combo and the other had a 90 watt Crate excalibur half stack, the crate was always cranked right up to 10 in order to match volumes with the Peavey which was typically set on 4 or 5. The...
I think you would need to make sure that the location doesn't make it more difficult for your local clients to use the studio, would it make it more expensive for a local band to record? Is it going to be a problem to transport gear to the studio? Is it too far away for a local band to travel to...
