The cable tester has a really nice feature set not usually found in a cable tester it's a phantom power tester and test tone generator as well.

If I had to define it I'd say its the feature of the song that 'grabs' you, hence the name. I also don't think there's a formula for generating hooks although 'familiarity' is often used as a safe (but boring) substitute.
Flip the fan around so that it expells the hot air upwards (and keeps out some of the dust). In your bios you can look at the system temp monitoring and see which arrangement keeps the system cooler.
You can do just fine with 8 inputs
1 Kick
2 snare top and bottom submixed
3 hats
4 & 5 toms submixed to a stereo pair
6 OH Left
7 OH Right
8 Band scratch track (or bass)
I think it's called circular picking, where you whole hand stays still and only the thumb and index finger move by bending at the joints as if you were writing.
