I have been hearing all about the GAP pre73, what's the deal? Are they really that good? I know they are definitely in my budget, I just can't believe people rave about a 350 dollar preamp. I kinda think that they wouldn't really suit my purpose. I am primarily a metal guy, all the bands I...
Anyone have one of the Presonus Channel Strips? I am thinking about getting one for tracking vocals and such. I seen a studio video of Whitechapel that the engineer was using a 300 dollar Presonus Channel Strip for tracking their vocalist. I do alot of metal band recordings, so I thought that...
So I am looking into getting a Presonus channel strip and maybe some mic preamps, comps, limiters and such, how do I hook it all up, I have been using all digital until now. Say I have a Focusrite pro40, and outboard gear, do I run the channel strip outs to mic xlr's? or what, be very...
Thanks man, very helpful information. That is much easier for a guy on a budget to do than to go spend 1000+ dollars on soundproofing, that and I rent my house, so I don't think my landlord would like that I glued soundtraps to the walls lol.
So I have heard from some people that if you don't have sound dampening material that you can use quilts to kill off some of the reflections in a small room. Any comments on this. I am wanting to do some drum recordings in my little home studio, but don't have dampening material, if this would...
Yeah, I found that if I have the cab opened back, about two feet from the wall, it gives a real nice tone recording wise, really open and cleaner sounding. Closed backed, it is real bass heavy, and sort of muddy. I used an sm57 but I am gonna try a e609 on it as well, and see how that sounds.
I have a very cool cabinet, which has a removable back panel to make it an open back cab. So far I have only used closed back, I was wondering what you guys prefer for recording guitars, open backed cabs or closed?
I threw this together in about a 30 minute stretch, I think I am getting pretty good at these amp sims and impulse responces, what do you guys think? And yes it is another metal recording.
Yeah, the Egnater has Celestion elite 80 speakers. They sound awesome man, way better than the sheffields that were in my 5150 cab, I am pretty impressed. It made me fall in love with my head all over again, because it opens up new tones, and the cool thing is I haven't even opened the back...
I noticed, yeah, like I said previously, I ended up getting an Egnater 2x12 tourmaster. It is huge, and deep. It isn't much smaller than my 5150 cab was. It has a real meaty tone to it, sounds awesome when I run my crate blue voodoo 120h through that sucker. I just wanna get rid of my blue...
Wow guys, if you are looking for a killer cabinet, my Egnater Tourmaster 2x12 kicked some major ass, I am running a 120w tube head through it, and it sounded monsterous last night at the show, it was much more full in tone than my 5150 4x12. I think I am in love, and they are a steal, I got...
Ok guys, so I just slapped an sm57 on that Egnater 212x cab, and I will tell you, I am super impressed, first impression wise, it is much more meaty than my 5150 cab. I literally just threw the mic up there, no placement adjusting or anything like that and it was one of the best tones I could...
I actually already bought a cab. I bought an Egnater Tourmaster 212x, check it out guys, tell me what you think. I got it for a pretty good deal, I don't know how it will respond to death metal quite yet, but we shall see tonight, just arrived and got a show tonight.
As a fellow metal head who has heard down and coc, which I can totally see are influences on you, bring the bass in there as the previous posters stated. The kick could come up alittle, it sounds as if you put a low cut on pretty high on the guitars too. I would say probably what around...
I just purchased one because I wanted to downsize my rig for live shows. I got this because I think it would work really well for my studio as well. It has a removable back panel, so I can get an open back sound or a closed back. It has Celestion Elite 80 speakers in it, birch plywood build...
I am looking for a good 2x12 new or used, that would be the best for death metal. I will be using it for gigs and recording purposes, so dependable and excellent tone. What are you guys suggestions?
