I've posted all sorts of tones on here. I did get more involved in posting when I needed to develop tone to match a newer direction in current writing - something a little tougher.
My signature tone was trebly/jangly for a lot of songs BUT I needed a new string for the bow.
I now have a tougher...
Armistice's idea re the chorus lyric/melody is a good: even repeating the word you're holding would be effective lyrically & melodically. The verse is good & is a little Placeboish but not to the detriment of anything.
intro try using the da da da section from 03.26.
Armistice,
Goodbye Mr Pills - reminds me of Gentle Giant - in a good way - & that's a band who did a couple of LPs I LOVE, (interview in particular).
Nothing wrong with layers of clean guitar - particularly when played as well as you did do.
Song 9 - I like...
JDOD,
Medium gain double sounds best to my ears. It may have been a delusion based on the stereo field but it sounded like the sort of metal I'd be more inclined to listen to.
Wow, Shake Some Action.
Interesting mass arrival of a mass that don't normally arrive.
Could this be the cavalry? maybe it's the State Guard or the National Guard.
Here we were, getting along nicely, doing what this thread is all about & WHAM - external interjection whips up a storm.
IF folk...
Gents,
thanks for the feedback. I tried a sweep of the offending track and wasn't really able to isolate the fizz well. I can't adjust the gain structure as it's a guitar into a 5 watt amp that only has on/off & volume controls. It goes into a Marshall 4 x 12 and a Shure 57.
It's funny that the...
Keep your chin up Miner.
It's a cyclical thing and if you can ride it out you'll surface for clean air. Are you allowed to up meds in heavy parts of the cycle?
This will sound silly, but if you can stomach it eat beetroot, even the canned kind, with at least 1 meal a day. Does natural serotonin...
A Game For One Player.
Here's my most recent to keep the ball rolling in the Tone Thread.
I've tried to remove some fizz from the open chord guitar as suggested by Greg.
No solo or singer yet though I do have the lyrics (see below).
How's the tone & guitar balance chaps...
Yeah I know Gonzo X,
I know that you don't change a thing,
I know that you stick religiously to your ideas,
I know that you're not interested in lyrics enough to make them internally consistent etc etc.
That's fine and works, more or less, BUT you posted in the clinic where mixes, playing etc...
A 9 year old track is posted in the mixing clinic for the zillionth time for mix suggestions?
Musically this is, was and will remain polished but loses it's "bite" with repeated posting.
Lyrically it has always needed work.
My thoughts go to the 2nd line "drank up all the mead" and just how...
Jimmy, how is Burgundy's over reactive post not a sanction attracting offence? His response isn't appropriate given what he stated and the floating "rules".
It's simple - Greg, and for that matter Rami, does far more good than most and occasionally doesn't suffer fools or trolls.
My response to...
It's a single track recording.
I can't hear or conceive of the need to master it as it stands nor what mastering would do that couldn't be done in the "mix".
As they stand the unmastered track sounds more real & whilst raw - rather better.
The "mastered" sounds quieter and lacks bottom end...
Is saying your previous response was silly really rude?
AND you seem to willfully mis-comprehend.
Similarly, you know nought of me.
I've worked...
I've built...
I was trained...
I've been playing guitar...
etc etc etc.
In my previous post I stated my circumstance, not yours, as part of my...
Use REAPER, use it for free until you decide it's great and pay the small price they ask. The Focusrite interface will do fine with almost everything. LOTS of soft synths, free ones too, will give you some bass BUT save a little and buy a cheap bass along with a Behringer BDI21 and you'll be set...
