What the heck did I do now?

Hi Folks, Don't know what I did, but when I arm a track to record, the signal sounds great, I can add a send effect, all is good. Until I hit Play. No sound, no deflection at all on the meters, until I hit Stop, then everything sounds great again. If I hit Record, I can track just fine, but I...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

Thanks for the link to that handy utility! Think I'm going to modify my workflow a bit, and mirror the contents of the MUSIC folder on each of my cards to the laptop I keep on the desk after each session...that way, if I need to reformat a card, it'll be easy to restore the work that's been done...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

And that's the ironic part, Rusty....my SanDisk Extreme 32 Gig Class 10 card IS on the Tascam list of tested and compatible cards! I've always used SanDisk Extreme cards with my cameras, and they've never let me down whether shooting a scenic for myself, or shooting a wedding for a client when...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

Update, 2/26/13 - decided to spend a vacation day in the home studio, and did a remix of one of the new songs we're working on. Mixdown went smoothly, proceeded to Mastering screen, and about 30 seconds into the song, along comes the skipping again....with firmware 1.02 still loaded from the...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

The card is a SanDisk Extreme 32 Gig Class 10....although I wouldn't rule it out, as any storage can get corrupted, what are the odds it would occur twice during mixdown on the same song after applying the 1.11 update, and then not occur at all during mixdown on the same song again, after...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

The problem isn't in that clip....that clip was from the successful mix I did AFTER returning to 1.02. I only posted the clip as a sample of how basic the song in question is, which makes the skipping issue all the more odd. I never completed a mix when the issue occurred because I stopped the...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

Broken Toe Test by Crossroads2012 on SoundCloud - Hear the world Here's a sample of the track that provoked the issue that I posted on SoundCloud in order to put it on Facebook for the guys to have a listen to....the effects you hear on the guitars are through the pedal board, not on the DP-24...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

To Steve - no, actually I only tried it on the new track I recorded Sunday afternoon, after I'd installed the 1.11 firmware update....it threw me quite the curve, as I'd never heard this occur before on the DP-24 (or in all the years I've used the original 2488). To Rusty - nope, this was a new...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

Rolled back to 1.02 today after discovering a new problem in 1.11 - did a 6 minute scratch for a new song...2 guitar tracks on 1 & 2, and a hi hat keeping time on 23 & 24....that's it. Went into mixdown mode, and while mixing, the track was randomly "skipping" - for those old enough to remember...

DP-24 V1.11 Firmware update released today

The good news is that the Maintenance Items in the data sheet indicate that they addressed the problems with the EQ settings being lost in the 1.10 release...and they got this fix out pretty quickly, all things considered. Hopefully, this one will be stable!

    Tascam backup files 2488 NEO

The WAV files you back up on your 2488 will import perfectly to the DP-24, but take note of the song format on the 2488 (44.1K or 48K, and 16 or 24 bit) so when you create a new song on the DP-24 to bring them into, the format matches. If the format doesn't match, you'll get an error message...

    New DP-24 Firmware!!!

Thanks for posting that, John! I hadn't tried that, but it makes sense that they'd route the metronome to the headphone out, along with the monitor out...I suspect the overwhelming majority of users simply plug into the front panel headphone jack, rather than a rack mounted distribution amp.

    New DP-24 Firmware!!!

Long time Tascam user....back to the 424 in the mid 80's, the MIDIStudio 688 in the '90's, the original 2488 Mk I when it was released, and recently, a DP-24. I'll agree with Billy's comment about the DP-24 not needing a drum machine per se, however....I feed the Audio Outs (RCA) into a...

    New DP-24 Firmware!!!

Thanks for posting this, RustyAxe....i was going to install the firmware this weekend, but I may hold off now, to save the EQ settings with the songs. I wish the DP-24 had the Scenes feature that original 2488 Mk I did....it would save EQ, pan, and level settings, so you could "dial in" your...

CD Architect will not burn my red book master!

I find CD Architect to be the single biggest waste of ones and zeros on my entire hard drive...and yes, I'm including the obligatory Windows Solitaire game in the list. I have version 5.2, along with Sound Forge Pro 10, and although it recognizes my CD drive, it's slower than a politician to do...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Matt, I've only had mine for a few weeks now, but I'll take a swing at your questions... 1.) I have a set of powered monitors connected to the Monitor Out jacks in the back, which I control with the volume knob...the stereo RCA outs are connected to a four channel headphone amp in my rack. In...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Just got a DP-24, and ran into the same brick wall....the song I'm working on is comprised of tracks we originally did on the 2488 Mk I at 24 bit, which I then imported onto the DP-24 today. Sounds incredible, but I also can't burn a CD. What seems contrary to me though, is that in the manual...

    DP-24 question

Thanks for your reply, RustyAxe....I'd pretty much came to the same conclusion, and agree....either the SD card, or set up the old laptop to use as a data shuttle device on the recording desk. I've made a ton of progress, but just hit a brick wall. I exported all the tracks from an unfinished...

    DP-24 question

Hi All, If this has been asked and answered, my apologies...I didn't find it when I looked around! I read in the DP-24 manual where you can easily import and export WAV files to and from a computer via the "Audio Depot" folder, but there's no mention (in the manual) of whether you can import...

    New DP-32

The ability to create backing tracks in the Pocketstudio 5, and MIDI drum tracks in the original 2488 Mk I were great tools for songwriting...I was a Pocketstudio 5 user, and upgraded to the original 2488 Mk I when it first came out...and still use it today, including those handy drum tracks...
