i tried a pair of B1's on acoustic guitar and i did not like the results at all. i highly recommend the B1 for acoustic guitar. i also recommend the C1 for vocals. The B1 and C1 are fantastic budget mics that every beginner should start out with, and every pro should have in his closet.

talent isn't that important. not in nyc, at least. first project i had tracked by a "pro" was very, very sad....and the guy's still doing well (financially). i think the most important factor is capital, which blue balls astutely mentioned. money opens a hell of a lot of doors. or "heck" since...

the c1 has a crisp high-end. makes vocals sit into tracks very well. reminiscent of the neumann u87 in my opinion, but much more affordable. highly recommended.

C1 is one of the better mics in the sub $700 range

hapicampur, you seem like the type of person who makes art really dull. my dad used to over-analyze things and subject them to painful scrutiny, to the point where i'd be thinking, "jesus christ, shut up." guess the joke's on me.

so you don't feel that a song like, say........ sympathy for the devil...... is worth coming back to? there's nothing wrong with making points in songs. there's nothing wrong with writing deliberate lyrics. what kind of music are you making, that you have no control over how it will be received...

by not posting a gear list, it enables people to form blind opinions about the way a song sounds. i like that. i definitely believe people (myself included) convince themselves they're hearing certain things when certain names are mentioned.

if you take away the posts in this thread by people who are demonstratably biased (dot, noisedude, alan) and then take away the posts in this thread by people who seem to bash for no reason, (nkjanssen, slobbermonster, krs)...... you end up with some people likiing the B1 and some people...

jefree, that's a great way of putting it. tastes differ a lot. if you like what you're getting with the B1, then you've found an affordable way of getting a sound. if not, move on. i wish more people accepted your philosophy.

just as a different microphone would produce a completely different sound too. i never said beezoboy's track sounded bad. i said make up your own mind.

please listen to beezoboy's song. does the guitar sound good to you? if so, then you should consider trying the mic he used. if it sounds good to YOU, what more do you need? thanks for posting the tune, beezoboy.
