need new speakers for my fender amp

In almost evrything I've read about the topic, people like to replace their fenders with EV's. I agree with Tom. Though once a Certified Fender repair shop replaced the speaker in my old Stage lead with an Eminence. I went through the fucking roof! Now if somebody can find me a 12" 100W-4 ohm...

    talk to me buck!

drdrew, Seems to me that I nosed around on the akaipro site and found a listing of compatible drives, though here's a listing of some drives that work with DPS 12. Its plenty outdated (and obviosly refers to the 12 and not the 16)but should provide some useful information. Hope it helps...

sound card for 2 tracks SP/DIF and midi?

You might try looking at Hoontech stuff. Somebody on here has recommended them before. Coop maybe? Anyway, They make a ton of different things and I think I remember seeing some inexpensive s/pdif gear. I don't know much about them though http://www.hoontech.com

    Starting own studio

My friends, x-bandmates and I (4 of us) rent a space in a part of town where there is no sound ordinance. The room is an old fall-out shelter from the 40's. Its about 16'x40' or so, I've never actually measured it. By January, I hope to be in a small recording business. Many of you have...

    equipment cases

Just beware that whatever you're going to put in the case doesn't need to be ventilated. If it is some sort of digital recorder, odds are it will need sufficient ventilation on its underside. Thats why they usually tell you to place the unit on a hard surface, otherwise you may be looking at...

    Live recording question

I feel like a big-man because strmkr suggested something, I agreed and got all the credit for the suggestion. Gotta try this with Ed or RE!

    Live recording question

As far as cost goes, the Hi-Fi vcr is a pretty good idea. You can borrow 2 of them and stagger the recording that way you won't miss anything. When you get home, dump the audio into your computer, edit & burn CD's. Downfall is that you generally don't have any recording level control or...

Ok how many strat and or fender guitar lovers?

Lazyboy posts like a madman when he has schoolwork to do My best friend has a jag reissue. I really don't like much about it. Like yours Reco, the intonation is terrible, it won't stay in tune, and its essentially toneless. And the Jag-Stang (which same friend had) in my opinion, is worse...

Stupid Me Recording A Band Problems

Hmm, Can't edit post I meant to say a Direct-Bus switch. On my tascam I record multiple inputs in Direct mode with the pans set to center.

Stupid Me Recording A Band Problems

Dougie, I don't know the details of your machine, but on my tascam I just leave the pans up the middle when tracking live. Also does it have a track-bus switch to make sure your sending each channel signal to its corresponding tape track and not the stereo bus. Look in your manual for some...

    equipment cases

ffmada, My blemished DPS turned out to be bunk so I ordered a new one ($1850, didn't do as well as you and Buck62). Probably won't be here for about another week. I already have plans to make a carrying case out of a suitcase. I'm gonna pack it with some high density foam all around it to...

Ok how many strat and or fender guitar lovers?

My old faithful guitar is a mid-80's Japanese Contemporary Strat. Black with a white pickguard and maple neck. It also has 22 frets and a Fender locking trem (which actually keeps it in tune for weeks at a time). Its getting a little noisy so I'm gonna clean and possibly shield the...

    akai dps16

I took a minor risk and ordered a blemished one from MF on tuesday for $1500. Fucker was supposed to be here yesterday, and here I am without it. Right now its sitting in a warehouse 40 miles from my home, and it will be there until monday. So much for 2nd day air. They have the 45 day...

    Looking for good distortion/overdrive effect.

I went with a Boss OS-2 overdrive/distortion over the tube screamer. Its well built, about as noisy as the TS, and more versatile than the DS-1. I play a strat through it into a deluxe reverb II amp, on the clean channel. The way I typically have it set, it has a little more cut to my sound...

Do you know when it's good?

"The craft part is to interpret what I'm hearing in my mind, so I can play the parts, and communicate them to others." -Jeff (sorry don't know how to do that reply with quote thing) And your saying we overstate the importance of craft? How can this be any less important than hearing a song in...

    Mixdown inspiration

How the hell have I missed this thread???? Lots of good ones have already been said. There are so many things I like about so many records from George Harrison's brittle leads on early Beatles stuff (What You're Doing in particular) to Radiohead's OK computer that just do something to me...

Do you know when it's good?

I don't know. Sometimes the craft part breeds the inspiration. You know what I mean? When it comes on slow as you work through something. You get attached to it and you're concentrating so hard that everything else in your life just kind of slips out of your consciousness. I remember a...

    What's your best recording tip?

Buck, Does that mean you are or are not happy with the akai? Tell me. I feel like I'm a paycheck away from it.

    What's your best recording tip?

Don't try to rationalize little mistake and imperfections by saying I can fix it in the mix, or that's good enough. If something doesn't feel right--re-track it. It's gonna take a pretty large time commitment either way; and those little things you let go will drive you nuts in the long run.

    72 b-master and tubing question

Hey fender guys, I might be able to get my hands on a 72 bandmaster head & 4x10 cabinet for a pretty reasonable price. I don't know yet if it is the reverb model or not. Do any of you have exerience with this amp? I've read that there was a run of 70's B-masters with some shitty wiring...
