Try the Samson CO3 studio mic. It's around $100 and rates well above that. (To get a fair comparison against a similar mic, one review had to pull out a Neumann. The Beyer and another in that price range were nowhere close. Good Luck

You need to get camping grommets and small bungee cords at the supply store. lay down the fabric, place the insulation on top, then wrap the edges around and figure out where the grommets should go so the bungees will hold it with a little stretching. That should do it until you get frames or...
The fact that you are asking means you will be fine. This is the most professional thing someone can do; ask for help. Do the same thing you are doing here with your engineer. Tell him this is your first time and you don't know what to do. Maybe even show him this letter. He will work gently...
I see this a lot. So you finally discovered why professional recording studios have all that expensive equipment. You need a AD/DA converter. They run about $100 to $500 depending on the number of inputs. I use an eight channel M-Audio that ran about $500. Pay attention to your question: cheap...
Stop and think. You want a signal that is dampered to drive speakers close to your ears to drive a guitar amp? Step away from the DAW! Here are two link on the proper way to re-amp. Don't listen to anyone trying to help you do it your way. Link one: A Guide to Re-Amping Techniques Link two...
An audiophile is someone who listens to music. They strive for a system that will give them the perfect listening environment. no connection to recording at all.

You are heading into nightmare territory. You would need everyone on in-ear monitors, and the feed to you all would need a click, while the feed to the house mains would not. My advice is to hire a good bass player; preferably a good session player and use them live.

As long as people keep making shitty music you won't need a mastering engineer. Just slam the hell out o it. Only people who make great music understand how important mastering is and how it is really worth the money. Eventually good music will come back around again.

A lot. As a matter of pact, the preamp is the whole secret to great sound. But of course you first have to have something great to record. Pre-amps run from $20 up to several thousand per channel. There is a good reason for that.

First, don't use cheap and decent in the same sentence. Try use=ing an iPhone and connecting that to a computer to upload it for adjustments in a free audio program. Otherwise try one condenser mic out in front at about siz feet up and pointed toward the bass drum.

You didn't say how much processing power your computer had, what kind of drive and what speed and what other equipment you had. You need at least an 8 channel AD/DA converter to do what you want. Changing mixers won't help until you have a way to run all those mikes into the...
Those will not work. There is a way to use them though. Get a sheet of 3/4" ply, stain it nice, cut it into four 12" x 8 foot lengths, one for each corner.Measure out from the corner about 18 inches an attach it angled back toward the other wall. attach the two foam traps to the inside in the...
I work in animation and am learning Blender right now. Here's my advice: Do not work on your music with equipment you do not understand. Write, by all means. But recording is not "making" music. It is capturing sounds. First set up your system and practice using it. Record a little keyboard or...
If you are getting too much bleed, then gating might not help unless you are playing a really hard BD like in rock music. In jazz I use eq to focus the BD and minimize the bleed. You might try that instead of gating, which can backfire by cutting off the bloom of the BD.

I'm not worried about the poor English. You should have seen me in Paris ordering food. When a guitar or any other track conflicts with the vocal try putting a parametric eq on the music and cutting 1k almost all the way out. That should clear up any conflicts.

There are several things at work here, but the term dynamics usually means the relation between instruments in the mix as well as the changes in perceived volume (I emphasize perceived) The actual numerical volume on the faders have nothing to do with dynamics. It is how the instruments stand...
Channel Arrangements
First the practice of leaving a track or two between recorded tracks was during the era of tape on two inch, where crosstalk was an issue. you generally don't have that with digital. Second, you should set up your channels the way you feel comfortable but always in that...
Do NOT eq you rmonitors. They are there (flat response) to give you accurate feedback. Just be sure to treat the wall right behind the speakers with acoustic foam panels or hang a folded up quilt from a thrift shop behind then so the wall is not adding anything in. Good Luck,
