I have a bigger challenge for home recordists!

It's funny you should say this because I've been messing with a bass tonight. I wanted to complete the piano but it's hard to feel the rythm against your guitar and so I needed to just lay something down I could work to, so I decided to add a bass to the whole track to which I could follow...you...

I have a bigger challenge for home recordists!

Ok guys, What I've done(as some of you would have guessed), is to take the original guitar and vocal and I've pitched them down slightly(without affecting rate/tempo), to make them fit more in natural tune. It's not perfect but at least it allows you something to work with and remember, these...

Hang on....I have an idea !

I have a bigger challenge for home recordists!

Dude, if you like...I could supply you with an audio file of orchestra tuned notes so you can tune your guitar to concert pitch...you know, a clear tone of individual e,a,d,g,b,e ? Not that it matters much to me though cause as I said earlier...I just tune my sound to reach yours, though in...

I have a bigger challenge for home recordists!

gecko...BPM=80 and yes I too had to tune my piano sampler forward a few cents to compensate for the guitar. Mart.

sometimes I get self concious posting so many songs

Walter I'm pretty new here so I am not familiar with your music. But after listening to the four tracks you posted and a few others beside, I can't believe that you feel the need to apologise for creating such excellent music. You have a rare gift my friend...keep doing what you do. Music is...

I have a bigger challenge for home recordists!

Cybergord I've been messing with some piano. This is very rough and take into account that it's raw straight from my DAW, no mixing, no EQing, compression or anything. Also...this is just the first verse and chorus...I just wanted to post what I've been doing so far to see what you think...

    Pro Tools, Izotope and mastering

I agree with Glen. Just treat dither as part of the process when converting to 16bit. Just handle everything else in 24bit or whatever. You really are worrying over nothing dude. Just dither when you convert to 16bit...it ain't like it adds hours of compile time or anything. So export from...

a song i've recorded, produced and mastered.

Only listening through headphones ATM mate but, it sounds great. Love the song and the laidback lyrics. The guitar solo came in a bit sharp and not sure if the vocal track is a little loud and maybe could do with de-essing but as I say...headphones. Love that kick though mate. Mart.

    rookie song

Well the production sounds good but IMHO, I would like to hear the song without the bongo's. ;)

Mixing Advice- New Death Metal Song

Go get reaper, it's free but don't get put off by that cause it's awesome and competes easily with cubase/cakewalk etc. Plugin's are much easier to use IMO. Just import your 'wavs'...drop a plugin onto the same strip and mix away. Here's a link:- http://www.cockos.com/reaper/download.php

How do you set your projects up?

Yes...I always create a new folder in my main reaper saves dir for every tune. Once you save the .rpp to that folder, then reaper will save any .wav's etc to that folder too as you said. That's a good feature with reaper cause I get so sick of having to start pointing toward the correct dir with...

Mixing Advice- New Death Metal Song

Definately your best mix so far mate. The guitars are sounding much crisper but more importantly(from a mix improvement point of view), your drums are starting to come through now...I still want more snare/toms though, although I'm not really too familiar with this genre so hope I ain't just...

good drum samples for fruity loops?

The key is to google for 'drum .wav' Anyway...I just did that and found this link:- http://www.users.bigpond.com/prodigalson/drum.htm Just quickly downloaded a zip with four kicks which were 44100/16 quality so, not sure if it's what you're after but, thought I'd share this with ya just incase...

How to get rid of over powering "S" sounds?

Yes...the tool you require is called a 'de-esser' the clue's in the name. ;) There are lots of them around but here's the link to a good free one(vst), which I think will run ok in 'logic'...it's called 'Spitfish'. It's part of the 'fishfillets' bundle(block, floor and spit fish) and is available...

    Anyone selling their music online?

Something I was looking at for distributing CD's You just upload your master to them, design your CD cover artwork etc...then display your sales link on your website/MySpace or wherever. If someone wants to buy it, they deal directly with the company's(automated service) and the CD is shipped...

Anyone interested to fix and mix my vocals?

That's no problem mate....infact, it's sort of a compliment because 'electronica' is my genre LOL. But seriously, I enjoyed what I did. :) It must just be me then that can't download that link if theForgotten got it ok...maybe my ISP blocks one of the hops or somat. Shame though cause I would...
