Thanks for visiting the site guys!
Absolutely! However, Danelectro haven't been pushing many new products of late.
As I offered to Bruce, I would be happy to post anyone's expert opinion on the subject.
I'm surprised to see such controversal reaction to the editorial as well as no one...
Follow these steps:
1) Face your amp into a corner (it will dramitically increase lows).
2) Put a piece of carpet under your amp.
3) Turn your amp up to giging volume.
4) Use a single mic right up on the grill.
5) Turn your reverb off.
6) Do not use a compressor when tracking.
7) Put a gate...
I will play the devil's advocate. Part of the issue in customizing a cheap guitar is that people often buy the cheapest parts to upgrade with. The quality of many import guitars now is astounding. If you buy better parts than are on the Fender and customize the budget guitar, you will end up...
Maybe due to the position of your amp within the room. If it's anywhere near a corner, your bass frequencies will be greatly enhanced. I've placed amps in a corner plenty of times to get a little more girth out of a smaller sounding amp
I agree with the above post, use a multiband compessor to your advantage. It's always easier to take a little away instead of trying to add something back.
Nice looking site. Here's mine, http://www.frugalguitarist.com. Should be publishing the April issue on Saturday. It's ASP.Net with a SQL2005 backend. I've got a little extra bandwidth that I will part with for cheap if anyone's interested and can also help with site design.
You might want to try the EMU X Board 61 which comes bundled with Proteus X with a pretty large collection of sounds. It also has a translator for different sample formats which works great.
A bunch of people have success with them. Check out Guitar Attack for some samples. Grizzly also offers reasonably priced kits with more traditional tonewoods. If you expect a kit guitar to be a great player with minimal work I think your fooling yourself. However, with a dedication to...
I'll give you my experience:
1. POD XT Live. Great high gain sounds and very veritile setup, however complex to program. Didn't like the middle ground (light overdrive) as much. The unit feels sturdy as is quite large and the priciest unit I tried out.
2. Floor POD. No stomp box modeling...
If I was going to spend $1000+ on an instrument, I would go all out and get a completely custom built instrument from a private builder. UNtil that day comes...
I would say, like others, to get 2 for that kind of money. One which fills your primary desires as a guitarist and another to fill...
Make a list of things that bug you about your current unit. Does the new unit address those issues? If not, red flag.
Does it offer a significant workflow advantage or new features you would enjoy? If not, red flag.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, does it sound better to you? If...
Quick question. What is the source of the drum track? I have no experience with Acid nor Cool Edit, but this really sounds like a synch issue. If you're trying to use the SB card and the Tascam together, you'll have problems...
It's so hard for me to understand why all the technology available is focused on trying to create the classics of the past rather than new sounds previously unable to be achieved. And the flip side is why since the early 90's guitarists have been so relunctant to experiment.
What if you could...
Bought one to augment my Tascam 1082 via SPDIF and was pretty disappointed. I hoped it would match the quality of the built in pres in the Tascam but it was very thin by comparison. As a special effect, you can overdrive the it fairly easily but as a clean pre I found it lacking.
AT2020 is a great budget mic with a crisp, not harsh, high end which really helps tracks like an acoustic cut in a mix. On the other hand, low end response is less than ideal...great to control proximity, however limits it's flexability with some voices and instruments.
