Anyone else have any ideas here? Slack, Harvey, Alan, Bluebear, etc.??? I kinda wanna know if I should shop now for a new mic or not...whatcha'll think? Thanks guys!
Ok, i'm here in the studio testing them right now. The SD condenser doesn't do it(603), only the LD(2001)...so, I assume it's a problem with that mic...diagraphm, etc...? Any ideas?
I, too, thought it was a phantom power problem, but it happens with two different pres, so without a strange...
No, it's not a thread about mixing, it's about mics...fading in and out. I have a couple Marshall mics(2001 and 603). There are certain times when I use them, that they fade in and out. What I mean is that when I start playing or singing, as I get louder, they fade out to nothing, and just...
i'm running a Asus A7V133, ViaKT133A chipset
This is a VERY stable board, one of the best really. Highly recommended for Protools.
Check out duc.digidesign.com - there's ALOT of useful info there too...

i'm running a Protools system on a 1 gHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird. Not a single problem. Very powerful, very fast, and very stable chip. I highly recommend them.

I love the Digi. I got it last August, and built a new computer(PC) to support it. So far, I've had not a single problem with the PC issue, and i've done up to 22 tracks with 15 or so plugins. Like Clark said, follow the compatibility docs and you'll be fine. ALSO, since it's an industry...
MTSU
Hey man,
I just started going to MTSU(Middle Tennessee State University) to major in the Recording Industry:Production and Technology, aka. sound engineering. MTSU has the largest program for it in the country I believe, and it's alot less than Berkley, i'm sure. Anyway, check it out...
OK, I found the cable...it was right under my nose(fullcompass catalog on my desk). Anyway, now i'm wondering of the importance of good cable vs. good connectors. I know the cable is important, i'm looking at the Mognami stuff. The connectors....Switchcraft or Neutrik?
Also, what gauge of...
Ok, for all you guys who make your own cords, where do you get the stuff to do it? I figured switchcraft has the plugs, but I just need to know where to get the cable, etc.. etc...
I just got a patchbay, and thought "oh, i've got 10 cords, this is PLENTY" Yeah...right. I only need about...
compression and a good mic pre.
I had the same problem, but just bought a Joe Meek VC3Q...it was amazing how much it helped. The importance of those two things just is....well, important! Anyway, try that.

about the cables...
i just ordered a compressor myself, so I can't really address those, but, as far as the cables are concerned....
As soon as you introduce an unbalanced cable into the chain, it unbalances the whole system, or so i've had it explained to me.
So, it'd be better not to use...
Hey guys,
Well, I just got back from G.C., and bought their last VC3Q they had here in Knoxville. Can't hook it all up til I get back to Murfreesboro on Monday night, but i'll let ya'll know what I think. Thanks for the reccomendations!

oh yeah, I actually do have a compresser and a multi-effects, super magic box thing...just didn't mention them cause I don't use them primarily...I usually use the software compresser in Pro Tools

Ok, here's the situation...
RIght now i'm recording with the Digi001, a couple marshall mics, and a *cough* Behringer mixer. Coming this weekend, i'll have the funds to possible buy another piece of equipment to add to the mix here. So, i'm thinking of getting a Bluetube mic pre. Good idea...
you got me
Yeah, WC, I'm from Knoxville. Went to UT for a couple years to study architecture, before wising up(or not!!) and deciding to record for a living. I looked at ETSU last year, was thinking about getting into the digital animation thing. Pretty cool place.
Not heard of the guy...
yeah, I must admit, i'm a bit of a bass addict. I played it over my main stereo speakers after I mixed it, and since they have 15" woofers, it totally boomed. I loved the impact of the bass, and the groove it set up, but you're right, it muddles things a whole lot, especially the vocals...
Hey guys,
Well, i've been surfing around this site for a couple years now, and i've FINALLY gotten around to uploading something. This isn't a final mix by any means, but a premix anyway. Still some major errors(doubled voices in first line of second verse about 1:00---oops, forgot to...
Try backing the mic off the amp a bit, get away from that whole "proximity effect" thing... Plus, backing up and getting a little "room sound" can brighten things up a bit.
