"Can`t open file because it is being used by another process"?

This is an easy one. Buy your software. The reason your file won't open is because it's in use. What do you figure is still using it? Figure that out and you will have solved your problem. Yes. I know the answer but I think, I've helped you enough already. Really, much more than I wanted to.

    ART TPS II Peramp

This is exactly opposite of the way it works. The other stuff is uh. I don't know man. The internet is full of "experts". I like a high pass filter on vox so, if that's what you mean about adjusting the bass, mid and highs(which is almost like saying, you need to make it sound "better") then...

    ART TPS II Peramp

Tips? keep the output gain low(9 o'clock) and drive it with the input stage. This will drive the tube and give you some nice saturation. Don't trust the presets. Try different ones out. "Valve" voicing is useful. The others are questionable. Play with the impedance. The higher the...

Apogee rosetta 200 or delta 1010

Well converters are always the last part of the signal chain before it goes in the box and the first on the way out. And, you can't really put a compressor before a mic pre but otherwise yeah, signal path is an important consideration.

Apogee rosetta 200 or delta 1010

I think you'll be surprised what you've been missing. It's likely that the 44 has been preventing you from hearing any of the benefits of the Avalon and likely the deficits of the Blueberry. I am not a fan of Blue mics but that is a personal thing. As far as the Rosetta is concerned and good...

    new preamp? sub $160?

Do yourself a favor. Save your money. Forget the incremental upgrades. The $160 you spend now would go a lot further on a good preamp in the future. Put the money away and forget about it. Add to it and when you've got $600-$1000 look into a True Systems P-Solo, UAD 610 or 710, an ISA One ore a...

Who Is Better Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page

Actually you got that wrong. I agree with you on Page being a better guitarist but behind the console WAS Jimi H. He was a pioneer in audio effects and production. It was him that thought of the backwards tape thing. There were a lot of things that we never would have discovered if it weren't...

    ART TPS II Peramp

The limiter on this thing is a piece of crap. Don't use it. Period. The V3 voicings are equally crap. They sound horrible. It sounds best in the neutral setting. The only useful part is the gain boost and the impedance setting. If you're careful you may be able to make the limiter work for you...

Firebox vs Firestudio Mobile? (help please)

That's with the phantom power on? I find it hard to believe that the preamps are so poor that you have to have the gain all the way up with a condenser mic. What kind of levels are you expecting? An average peak of -12 dB is quite acceptable. I've never had that problem with any condenser. Even...

It's Cm or B#m. Same thing.

Firebox vs Firestudio Mobile? (help please)

The bonus with the Firestudio Mobile is that the line inputs are actual line inputs an not just an attenuated feed to the preamps. The sound quality is clean. Preamps are fairly transparent but I bought mine for the line inputs. It's noticeably better than my MBox 2 as far as clarity is...

Best Mic Pre under $300 Poll..

Yeah. Who could argue that point? I think you are talking to a brick wall though. The GA-73 is a rarity. R. C. Murphy finally did a shootout between sub $500 mic pres btw. I guess he never managed to get a hold of the Golden Age. It's definitely on my shopping list though.

Does A USB Mic Need An Amp Or Mixer

Actually, you can totally scream into it if you want but you have to watch your distance. Micing an amp is also ok as long as you manage your gain properly. A condenser can sound really good on an amp. Not sure about this particular one. It does help to have a -10dB pad and a proper preamp though.

Does A USB Mic Need An Amp Or Mixer

Now suppose you did need a preamp. How do you think you would get that usb mic to connect to it? Most preamps have xlr inputs so a usb mic won't help you. The whole purpose of a USB mic is so that you don't need an external preamp or interface. The preamp is built in and gain control should be...

Help a stuck and confused guy out?

To answer the question directly, the Onyx I series have these benefits: *The Perkins eq can be routed pre or post firewire out. *The effects inserts can also be routed pre or post firewire out. *The Onyx I series have a workaround that allows you to use it with ProTools M-powered. A cool...

    Recording Interface Suggestions

"Ghost Power" LOL. I think he meant phantom power which supplies +48 volts to power your condenser mics. I'm currently using Windows 7 with an Mbox 2 and it has been sweet. I know of several others who are using Windows 7 Without issue. In fact I would say it is a large step up from XP in many...

    Serious Viberations around 60-80hz region

Sounds to me like you just have to make sure everything that can be nailed or glued down is nailed or glued down. Is your "studio" properly treated? What are the dimensions of the room? Did you do anything to soundproof it at all? I'm guessing no.

    oh god please help

AVG is the worst. I still would take free over one of the major Antivirus software. The more popular, the more likely they will be hacked. AVG has so many holes in it, it's not funny. Avast has served me well. I haven't had a virus infect my computer in years. At any rate, the best way to...

macbook pro 17" for pro tools?

Ram will only be an issue if you use a lot of synths or sampler plugins. That means things like Superior Drummer and BFD since these load directly to RAM. If you plan on going to ProTools, you might want to try a temp install of ProTools 8.01 since it is the stable version of PT8. You may...
