do i need an analog mixer for digidesign 002R

The Tascam US-428 is absolutely the problem - full stop. I struggled greatly with that unit when I started out a few years ago and now I only use my us-428 as a control surface now. You can stick with your PC and some firewire device. Heck, even an Audiophile 24/96 will do ya.

    Gibson Faded SG?

I was able to do a side-by-side for all of the following: Epiphone G-400 Gibson Faded SG Gibson Standard SG Gibson '61 Re-issue SG The '61 Re-issue blew all others away. However, it was the most $$$. I went with the faded due to the $$$. I like it. I didn't go with the Epi only because I...

    bass v-amp pro users?

I had the Bass V-AMP Pro for about 6 months. I didn't feel it was any different than my Line6 Bass Pod, so I just stuck to the bass pod. The Vamp pro is very good at shaping decent sounds and does have an effects section which includes distortion.

    tuning my guitar

Actually Gorty, that's it if I were sitting across from you and looking at your guitar. If you are holding your guitar in your hands/lap, my ordering is correct. We don't want to confuse the new guy. :-)

    tuning my guitar

Standard tuning suggests a "proper" tone for the A above middle C on a piano keyboard. Traditionally the orchestra used this tone such that all instruments could calibrate to each other. The digital tuner that Crunkthanamug has is far simpler but based on the principle of A - 440 Hz. Just...

    Actually playing a guitar...

While moving around is normal in many guitar playing situations, you sound like a true beginner in need of some basics (a teacher would really help too): 1) Chord basics - There are several "folk" chords you should learn up in the 1st position. What I mean by this is, you can get chords A - G...

    tuning my guitar

Starting with the E string closest to your face (the thickest string). Strike it at around the sound hole and let it ring. Then, watch the meters or needle on your tuner. You'll need to move the tuning peg in order to get this string centered on 'E'. Follow this for strings A,D,G,B,E (the...

    Moving beyond the PODXT?

I've heard of the Triaxis before. I am not ENTIRELY dissatisfied with my modeler; I just want some supplement for heavy tones. I still feel that the value-per-dollar for the PodXT is high. I'm racking up some great suggestions and thank you all for them.

    fuck amp modellers!!!

I'll be the first to admit that the modelers HAVE drawbacks and weaknesses. However, I'll see your strawman and raise: "sound better" is entirely subjective and there are certain to be exceptions to your assertion here. you'll never have enough evidence to support this beyond subjectivity...

    Moving beyond the PODXT?

I'm concerned that the Tonelab won't be much different than the POD. Mind you, the POD is VERY useful and I am not looking to chuck it, but some of the heavier tones are hard to get. The THD seems cool, but it is also high up there in the $$$ department.
