Good mix, what kind of place did u record this?
It sounds like the instruments were done seperately, did u just set up a click for the durmmer or were there guide tracks
You need proper monitors :D Those are definately a weak point.
If you are expecting paying customers you need to start appealing to people with no recording knowledge: You need to be able to run protools, you should have a pair of ns10's in your studio photos.
I’ve got three questions based on a single problem, here we go :)
I would like to record drums, but in my recording soundcard there’s only 4 inputs (delta 44) and I don’t want to upgrade for one session. The music doesn’t really suit the "stick two microphones up and hear exactly how the drum...
yeah do whatever works best, for some types of music drumagog just dont cut it but others its perfect. i would recommend taking a midi out and trying a high quality drum machine (Ezdrummer, BFD) you still get the performance feel but with super high quality drums
just downloaded the source files, did a quick 30min mix to satisfy my curiosity.. and to give reaper a try out (normally use cubase sx2)

Think of it as a premix..
(also the snare roll at .30 sounds wierd.. im aware of it)
My pc is 1.2ghz duron  512mb ram XP
This is with minimum buffer, probably only good for running 4-5 tracks with a few low order plugins
Type of interface: PCI- delta 44
Sample rate:44100
ASIO Control Panel Buffer size:64
Reported round trip latency:3.06
Drift after ten testruns?: no

its kinda late and i have to listen at low levels so take this with a pinch of salt.
first song:
heard an evil resonance on the word "mine"
the snare drum sounds like its out of time which bugs me
second:
vocals are LOUD
does the guitar sound change half way through? sounds kinda messy
kick...
Did you need to be so demeaning to this poor fellow? He’s obviously just invested in a new mic, and likes it, should we heckle him or should we be happy for him?
So Corporate Kemp enjoy your mic :D
right, this is my take on this:
Playing to recorded tracks to create something impossible - Bands such as RATATAT have possibly 100 guitar tracks (its a wierd electro orchestra sound) but there is only two in the band, so they have one live guitar (doing the lead) and live drums (probably...
is this some odd joke?
i know people are friendly on this board but asking for people to do things you could do pretty easily (google?) is just plain rude
There are a few main reasons to buy protools:
Clients - For the masses protools is synonymous with high quality recordings, when unknowledgable clients book studios they look for protools, and would probably choose a studio with a delta 44 and mpowered over a studio with cubase and apoggee...
the piano sounds like a synth, check out these plugins:
mda piano
4front piano
you could also try the demo of true pianos (it sounds really nice) but it is time limited
its a really high end heavy mix, sounds like youve cut anything below 200hz, im guessing the guitars were either a line 6 or a practice amp with a tiny speaker (thats what im hearing). Try re recording them with at least a 1x12 cab, if they are using cheap equipment it might be worth using an...
sounds good, i know the feeling with really long projects.
what genre would you call this? it doesnt come across to me as metal (of which im not really a fan) but i like this :) kinda reminds me of send more paramedics
