    "Muffled" Track-Please help

Alot of it probably has to do with only using 57/58's, they are fine for guitar cabs and great for live work BUT they dont have much high end response. have you had/are you able to have experience with some good condensors? Especially the vocals and acoustic guitar. I had a listen to Loves...

    20's/30's vibe

unless you want that limited bandwidth distortion sound for an effect... getting it to have a 30's vibe is going to be more about the melody and the arrangement than the processing you doing to it

If you mix HipHop pls Hop in...Quick 1-2 Questions!!!

One of the things people will preach to you is LISTEN... annoying thing is they are in most cases correct. recording vocals

or.... use two microphones, a close one which you will use for whispers and a far one for louder stuff. This basically the same as having two runs at it.

    Recording duet - two singers

personally i would say get as much separation as possible, because if you have to correct one vocal then the other will be altered as well

    Monitor Choice and Interface Change

ever heard of bass trapping? foam is generally used to give the impression of treatment, a few rockwool traps would be much less intrusive, ideally your speakers shouldnt be against a wall as it causes LF buildup or "exagerated bass response". Im not one to comment on monitors but having worked...

Anyone Here Not Using 'Proper' Monitors?

personally i have found that the better the speakers (consumer or studio) the higher the acuity (ability to pinpoint certain frequencies). I have found that speakers/headphone that sound nice as soon as you try to mix with them its really hard to hear the changes. That being said i am currently...

What to spend tax return on...more broadband ceiling or carpet?

i would have thought the early reflections from the floor would be more desirable than the ceiling, and putting clouds is going to be more broadly effecient than carpet which could soak alot of yummy high end

    Recording a studio piano?

piano is one that greatly depends on the style of the music, i would guess as its an upright it will be pop/rock with full band. For that you want clarity, wide stereo image and not much reverb. Possibly some LDC's in the top, alot of people also like PZM's. Remember, if your not going for an...

wow, thanks for all the awesome replys :) So heres the problems people have brought up: Muddy, or cluttered in low mids- Cheers dirk for the mp3, i love when people express themselves with audio. A Project II

16 hours is unusually long to get a reply, i instinctively went to this one cause it had a higher number :(. I like it, but the guitars are nice and wide and the pad is small and wimpy in the middle, it sounds a bit odd. Also the bell thing is a tad cliche
