Yadi, Cool! that 3" stuff will really smack down some of the lower frequencies. As a follow up, I haven't actually made it into my bud's space since he put them up, but he reported to me that just 2 panels really improved his 10'x 6' teaching room. Where he used to be bothered by ear fatigue...

    Plexiglass Panel Drum Sound Barriers

I've used them, but only in live situations. In general, the plexiglass will not isolate, it only redirects the sound a bit. And if the wall behind the drums is live- it just kicks it back out again. They also make it sound like muck for the drummer. I think you'll need to close it in/off to...

    Guilford of Maine

I'm building a bunch of acoustic panels for the church I belong to, and just ordered a lot of fabric from this company. They seem to be THE leaders in this field of fire rated fabric in the US. It's also pricey as all get out, $17.50 USD a linear yard and up. The last panels I built (and posted...

    homeade bass tube traps

I just looked at Mbranes second link. Those tubes look like a lot of work ( slow and dirty) to build compared to building them with the rigid fiberglass tubes. the fiberglass tubes need no internal support structure. Some specs can be found at www.tubetrap.com follow the links for tube trap...

    homeade bass tube traps

Have you checked the prices for the real thing? I bet that little 12"'er would run you well over $200$ If you have trouble with standing waves, you will be blown away by what they do. Don't bother messing with the design, just build it!! BTW, yes they have to be airtight.

Some things have been said about The Soundroom ( oktava.com) on this forum. Here's another: Yesterday, I decided to order one of those nice cedar boxes for my MC012 pair, but had some trouble getting the order to process through the Soundroom website. I called and left a message and Taylor...

    Synthetic Fibers = bad, alternatives?

Was looking at the auralex catalog, and found a few items that might interest you. One is mineral fiber insulation in 2" and 4" thicknesses. Not sure exactly what it's made of but might be worth some research, the other is their new Sunburst line of broadband absorbers. the round ones look a...

    Rate the octava mk012 please...

wow, $379 for the lomo... considering the relatively low price of the mics, that seems a bit pricey for a capsule. Anybody here heard 'em yet? Audix is making a cool looking lomo mic now too. http://www.audixusa.com/scx_25.html retailing for around 679.00.

    Rate the octava mk012 please...

Same here, i agree with trackrat. I've used it on: ac guitar- smooth not too bright, vocal and ac guitar together- surprisingly nice on this application-( liked it better than my AT 4033 ), and successfully on some live choir work and drum overheads. For 99.00 it's a decent mic.. BTW Track...

    DIY Panels

I got a deal on the fiberboard, and total materials were about 50.00 USD. Had I paid full price for the fiberboard I think it would have been another $10.00. So, $12.50 a panel, $1.56 sq foot- not bad. The 2" auralex I've previously bought was about $16.00 a panel. Buying auralex or a...

I built some simple sound absorbers today for my friend's guitar teaching room. (It was loud with too much room echo) Got some pics some of you might enjoy as I know pics speak volumes when making your own. Materials 1-4'x8' sheet of 1/4" luan board 1-16" x 96" MDF board, 3/4" thick 1- 4x8...
