I'm doing that, I'm done with my old group, not only am I using a "band name", but I'm using a pseudonym as well... perception is everything and if your band name sounds cool and goes with the music, then it will only enhance it.

a bridge that rises up an entire fourth? do you definitely think it needs a bridge? I was also thinking of ending it a cappella with the chorus.

some of my best songs were written while driving (I remembered the idea until the next red light when I could jot it down) or in the restroom (I keep a guitar in there)...

if you can't remember it, was it really that great in the first place? what songwriter doesn't carry around a pen or pencil? what are you doing that is so important that you can't scribble down a line or two? if I'm in dire need, my cell phone has a memo pad built in to it...

yeah, I mean, you can make a really crappy recording, but if it sells a million copies, who cares if it's crappy? I got to a point where I wanted my recordings to be perfect, at least as good as the equipment I have can produce, but then they became sterile... no emotion in them.

Just compress everything until it sounds great...

do whatever you have to do to get the sound you're going for, I don't care if you have to use a drum stick as a plectrum

here's a tip, you don't want to stay in the same genre, just the fact that you wrote the songs (especially if you sing on them, but it's not a requisite), that will be the one key feature that holds them all together, people will get a feel for your style, regardless of genre

learn scales and arpeggios, then find out what key your song is in, then have fun
