I wouldn't exactly consider any of that guitar gear you're envious of to be "great". Guitarists don't need any of that shit to get a good sound, and neither does a bassist. The way I see it, the bass market is better off because it's not saturated with useless bullshit.

Actually, I had the most issues when I was using clean sounds. Mucho hiss and hum in the background from my chorus and delay pedals when they were plugged into that thing. I didn't use any pedals for high gain stuff, but if I did and they had noise I probably wouldn't have noticed. :D
