where can i get a good cheap compressor that will give me loads of nice, thick (not screechy but fuzzy) feedback when used with a separate overdrive box?
i have recently purchased an ibinez sonic overdrive pedal which gives me a great sharp fuzz sound that i like - but it doesn't give me any real uncontrollable, fuzzy feedback...how do i get a real wall of screaming, fuzzy feedback - can i get something like a compressor/sustainer and run it...

why is it that my mixes always sound great coming from either my headphones, my monitors or when i mixdown, my computer speakers - but when i listen to it on a regular stereo it sounds so muddled and is missing so many top and bottom ends?
i am recording and mixing on a Korg D1600mkii console...
thanks guys, i forgot to mention that yes i am on a pc...
i will check out wavelab and some of the others you mentioned. question - are the wave plug-ins generic? that is, do they run in any studio program? and where does one get them?
also - am i going to have to upgrade my soundcard? or does...
i have been using a standalone console multitrack (Korg d1600mkii) for a few months now and am really happy with it except when it comes down to mastering and burning cd's with it, i can mix down to a pretty good sounding pair of stereo tracks but it never translates well...the mastering...
