    Who Destroyed Metal?

Seriously, what the fuck? It's been around for just over 4 decades, and still going strong. Remember, we're talking about Metal here, not the pop schlock that the Corporatocracy has been selling as "metal" since the 80s.* Real Metal is bigger than it's ever been. *Kind of like in the 90s...

Cassette 4-Track To Computer: Any Way To Maintain Track Separation??

I do exactly that, and it works great. :D

    The Internet's Best Recording Resources

Thought I've never heard of Ozone, I'm finding their mastering guide to be an interesting read, as they use a lot of general guidelines. Some links to some (free) VSTs would be a nice thing to add.

    Recording in 90's

Having a clear memory of the 1980s, the 90s still seem like yesterday to me, and not "the old days". I just got my first cassette 4-track in 2000 (waaaay back when I was 19), a TASCAM Porta 07. In 2004 I bought an ancient Portastudio 244, just becasue it's a lot fancier than the more portable...

Maybe I can't play the CD backwards, but I can play a copy of it backwards.

    Canadian Success is easy

Canadian music sometimes has a huge influence on American music. For example, "The Big Four" thrash bands (all from USA) all cite Anvil as a major influence. Then there's the Guess Who's "American Woman" which was covered by an American guy years later. A shitload of talent has come out of...

    EQ plugins

I don't care whether I'm cutting or boosting; I just mess around with it until it either: (a.) sounds good, or (b.) sounds less bad (which is almost the same as good)

    Best Sounding Shellac and Vinyl

Like the little rocket ship with the BÖC logo on the front sleeve for Cultosaurus Erectus. I couldn't find it on the CD cover even though I knew exactly where it was.

    Best Sounding Shellac and Vinyl

It's not like music recordings weren't pirated before mp3 and internet. People used to copy LPs onto cassette. Personally, vinyl is my format of choice, even if they are higher maintenance. Yeah, you have to keep it clean, but at least you can't accidentally erase it with a magnet. I make CD...

What recording/mixing software are you using?

I love Audacity. It's free and you can't go wrong with that. However, as a DAW I find it more limited in some ways (though I did use it to record, mix, and export one song back in June. Mostly because I had a tight deadline and it was the DAW I was most familiar with). Right now I'm using it...

Immortal - Pure Holocaust: Lo-Fi Black Metal at its best.

What recording/mixing software are you using?

I'm a Reaper newbie and I'm completely in love. Last night I copied an old 4-track tape onto it, and was really impressed with how easy it was to get all the tracks to line up with each other.

How Do You Store Your Cables?

The best thing about my method is that I've gotten very experienced at untangling them. Actually, I've tried winding them up and hanging them on something, but then I slip back into the old habit. At least I keep my adapters in a little box on my desk.

Oh yes, the Priest remasters are brilliant, especially that one.
