Upgrading to 64-bit OS and DAW...Any Issues?

I was going to install x64 Reaper on x64 Windows XP, when a messaged popped up telling me that I appear to not be running a 64-bit OS. How is the 64-bit version of Windows XP not a 64-bit operating system? So, I just installed the x86 software instead. No big deal, as long as I have something...

    Alcohol and Songwriting

I like my weed but don't much care for drink. However, slide guitar is best played using the bottle from which one is currently drinking.

Which comes first, the music or the lyrics?

I hate this poll, because both are true for me. If I'm playing guitar, a riff comes first. If I'm not playing guitar, I'll come up with a lyric and figure out the music later. If it ends up unfinished I prefer the former, because my instrumentals are better than my poems.

    Wireless headphones?

I have the worst wireless headphones ever. It doesn't bother me that they sound like crap (I expect them to; they cost about $40). It's more the fact that I was expecting them to be in stereo. They're freakin' mono!

The first one. It's darker, and I like that sort of thing.

What are your greatest songs (covers) to play on acoustic guitars for your own fun ?

I occasionally enjoy playing a very slow-paced acoustic version of "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath.

How do the pros get that "modern" metal tone?

Keep it as it is. If it sounds Lo-Fi, that means it's TRUE METAL. The band can be generic and retain any street cred they may have.

Toni Iommi: Moderately stinky overdrive and a generous helping of midrange. My tone is similar I suppose, but the midrange isn't quite so raunchy.

What voulme level is best for selling on Itunes?

I don't get this "not loud enough" nonsense. Don't they still make volume knobs? The kind that can go quieter or louder? Did the volume knob factory close down or something?

Have u ever used a weird recording technique

Okay, forget the nonexistant parrot. I accidentally stumbled upon something really stupid the other day. I was transferring an LP onto my hard drive, and while it was playing I was also playing an electric guitar fairly loudly. At the end of one LP side (the few seconds of nothing after the...

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

I've been using a Digitech RP300 for about 7 years now, and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love that it has more effects and amp models than I'll ever care to use. At the same time, so of the effects are rather cheesy, and I've occasionally heard better ones in individual stomp...
