Word to the wise when working with MDF...

Wear a resporator, latex gloves and long sleaves. The dust from this type of wood(?) is horrible... I have MDF'd my nose, my goatee, and my skin burns! Oh and measure twice cut once. Or better yet, get those nice folks at the Home Depot to make all your cuts for you! (@ $0.50 per cut, i'll...

pk1... i understand the legs. but the flat panel on the front... how is that attached? What is used to keep that from snapping off when someone leans their weight on it? Is it just worm screws (like in pre-fabed particle board desks)? This was why in my modified argosy design i went with 2x2 to...

Pics of desk I am building...

LOL - I was dead set on the FW1884, but then I had a chance to use one and while its an excellent sounding combo card/controller, I was very disapointed by the lack of any type of cue mix capabilities. Since I mainly record singer songwriters (or as I like to call them - depressed lesbians with...

Pics of desk I am building...

Next update might be after the weekend... I am working on the top section. I cant finish the sides until I decide on how the top is going to sit. Originally i had planned for a Tascam FW1884 + 2 add-ons. The other side is a rack unit (hence the depth of the pedistal) I now have decided to fit a...

Kill the room mic. See if that gets rid of the "live" sound.

I keep getting an UNWANTED Live sound.

Do you have living people playing instruments within a room filled with air? If so then you are recording a "live" source. ;) What's wrong with a live sound? Are you comparing your mix to what you hear on the radio or mastered CDs - all the life squashed out of it?
