    Heavy breathing on vocal track

what exactly was too loud? The vocals? If so why did you choose to compress it instead of dropping your gain? It most likely is too late at this point, but Antares has a good plug-in called DeBreath (that's if you are using a DAW) You can at the very least program the plug-in to remove some...

Help Building New Comp for PT8

+1 to you sir! Also, if you can afford it, I would go with a HD with a little more than 7200 rpm for your samples/ and recording/read drive. That can potentially be a "bottle neck" in your system when running intensive PT LE sessions. Any weak link will cause a slow down. I am also a fan of...

It's 6 years old. Not heavily used within the last 4 years atall. It was used often in the first 2 years of its purchase. But as I said in the post, it honestly is in mint condition. I treat my equipment better than I treat myself. It's been in a rack in my home since I stepped away from live...

Amp / Compressor / Mixing Desk For Sale

Well, I've thrown in the towel from live sound completely and I am off loading some equipment to make room for more studio units. Not to mention, another baby on the way, and my last extra "storage" room has to be turned back into an actual bedroom. For Sale (as of right now) Crest Audio CA-12...

    mbox 1 : any good?

its cool for beginners..definitely..its a very personal piece like i said..don't expect that big studio sound out of it though..but if its for some sketch ideas, and you are now beginning to get ur hands wet with PT....it CAN do well..I would still recommend the Mbox2 over it though.. At least...

Sample Conversion Rates (Downsampling in pro tools)

Problem solved. A fatal error was occuring in the dithering plug-in I was using. Digi sent a new one over via download and the problem disappeared

I'll never forget the first time I heard that done and realized I knew nothing about mixing whatsoever.

Sample Conversion Rates (Downsampling in pro tools)

Believe me, I understand the difference, in great depth. the problem is not so much a problem as I am looking for a shortcut. The normal way I would handle a 48k/24bit to 44.1k/16bit conversion is to first bounce to 44.1/32bit with no dither, then to 16 bit with dither. At that last stage is...

Sample Conversion Rates (Downsampling in pro tools)

It seems to me that the new version has a dither when you want to go from a higher bit rate to a lower...which makes little sense to me since it has Dither plug-ins standard with every release. Also, there is no plug-in for downward sample coversions....which is the complete opposite issue from...

    Tips and Cool Tricks

I'm having sample rate coversion problems and am highly upset, so I will play too My new fad for the month...parallel compression and reverb...reverb the shit out of a vocal, pan it maybe 20 degrees left (my preference of course) and then pan the shit out of a track with the reverb on a send...

    Help with vocals

Yeah definitely a bit of exaggeration we are all using, but you're right..let's not lead the dude astray...I think they are more saying that the hip hop vocal sound we have all come accustomed to hearing is very compressed, but no doubt in an intelligent way (well sometimes anyway) BUT Kinetic...

    Help with vocals

I ditto the ridiculously compressed vocals...Do a lot of double tracks throughout, enforcing puchlines and various phrases..make sure the lyrics have a lot of bite..maybe shelve from 5k up (use your own judgement) And for God sakes make sure you pronunciate your words.

DigiDesign DIGI 002 and Reason 3 REWIRE

Well I will try to answer some of these. Rewire is a VERY DSP intensive thing to do. It does tax your system resources to the fullest, esp if you are not on specially built computer for audio. Pro Tools and Reason together especially, seems to pull on computer resources the most (In my...

Pro Tools 8.0: Possibly the greatest

That's the thing..If you were already running PT, this one seems to use less DSP than any other version.. And yeah, the latest verison isn't always the best..I had problems from 6.9 all the way until 7.4..then a couple months later 8.0 is here.

    Clean Sinewave Synth Bass?

Im going to go with the obvious and ask if u shortened your sustain and play your notes staccato..that way the natural sustain of the bass will cut off before the next note, and not bleed all over the place. Kinda like a kick drum wit no reverb.
