Opinion: Best (vocal) pre-amp for under $100.

I only found 2 reviews of that, and I have 2 thoughts: 1.) It definitely seems to have a lot more in the way of presets and options, which would probably be useful since I am somewhat unexperienced. 2.) It's Behringer, which seems to have a pretty bad reputation, particularly among members of...

    Guitar amp poll

By far, my favorite amp is the VHT Pitbull Ultra Lead with graphic EQ. It's unbelievably versatile, records well, sounds great live, and provides the best metal tone imaginable, if that's your thing. Fender Twins are also good for cleans, and Framus makes a solid versatile amp. Budget: 5150II...

I just did a search for the VTB1 and read up on a lot of peoples' opinions on here. Most seem pretty positive.

I noticed a lot of reviews of the Audio Buddy were a bit so-so. I'll look into those right now, thanks!

Thanks! I actually just got the search working, and found some info deep down in, but nothing super-specific. I'll look into the m-audio audio buddy right now.

RightOn, thanks for your comments. I apologise to the community as a whole if I've bothered you with this thread. I'm very new to this, and since I'll be undergoing surgery on July 9th, I'd like to have a lot of my setup in place so I can work on some tracking during the time that I'll be stuck...

Opinion: Best (vocal) pre-amp for under $100.

Hypothetically, for someone on a serious budget, primarily for powering a condenser mic. I know there's a lot of experience on this board and a lot of knowledge to be gained by a noob like me before I go out and waste money. ...and by "hypothetically," I mean "me" :p

Thoughts on cables $/value. Where do you draw the line?

I didn't know much about Zoalla or Van Den Hul past having heard the names, and holy hell - that's a lot of money. Thanks for the feedback - I agree that I'd much rather buy something once haha. I need to pick up a few more cables in the near future and will probably be using something along...

Thoughts on cables $/value. Where do you draw the line?

Obviously if you buy crap cables, you get crap results. On the other hand, mogami/monster is through-the-roof expensive. Do you find that there is enough difference between middleground $ and top $ cable to justify the spending?

    A few noob questions...

Thanks a lot, I figured as much with the instrument cable, but wanted to be certain.

    A few noob questions...

As you can see from my first thread, I'm relatively new to this, and am only now building a small home studio. I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers to by poking around. 1.) What exactly does "balanced" cable do/what's the difference between unbalanced?/when is it...

Brand new here! Please take a look at my set up, I am very excited to be joining!

Hey! My name is Matt, I'm 26 and from Philly, and I've been a professional musician since I was about 21. I've spent a good deal of time in the studio, but am only now attempting to build a somewhat-decent home studio with a limited budget. This is what I currently have. - AKG Perception 200...
