What does Cakewalk do that Reaper doesn't do and vice-versa?

One thing Reaper Can do is open up Cakewalk project files. This is with the help of azslo3 who wrote a converter called ReaCWP. This is nice to know in case Cakewalk by Bandlab ever goes completely belly up. I only used Reaper for a short time before going back to Cakewalk. FWIW , I don't know...

Little electric clicky noises recording DI bass

From the wavforms posted , it seems to me like you don't even have to be playing it to get those clicks. I would just start recording and start doing things like wiggeling the jack , turning off and on anything in your room that could be introducing interfearence. Try different wall sockets...

Time in a bottle (Jim Croce cover)

I used to play out doing the solo singer songwriter stuff , and I was Very comfortable with it. I recently tried to record a song without going thru all of the click track and retakes like I do now (using Just a guitar and vocals) . It didn't take me long to scrap the entire project. It's...

    Bad Moon Rising -Final Mix-

Hello , I got a remix done this morning. I'm sure (as always) that I'll make some minor changes. I won't bump the song back up if I do. I'm pretty satisfied with it now and going to get away from it for a while.. Thanks to All of you who listened and gave such helpful suggestions and comments...

    Bad Moon Rising -Final Mix-

@TripleM , Thanks for the comments. I'm remixing now , It will probably be a few days before I'm finished. I've taken the harshness out of the cymbols , that helped a lot. I've thinned the bottom on the low instrument . It's actually an "electric piano" . I played with low notes for the effect...

    Bad Moon Rising -Final Mix-

@HumanPlanet , I Really appreciate the listen and suggestion! I've actually snuck in a couple of remixes. I put some more highs and presence in the lead vox on the last mix (may need more). On a few listens the high hat was bothering me as well . I couldn't be sure if it was my headphone...

    Bad Moon Rising -Final Mix-

Hello , I've been playing around with this for a while but just got it recorded. I've always thought of the song as a pretty "dark" but have only heard rockabilly versions. Anyway .. if you hear something that really needs fixing , I'm all in. I Just did this for fun and the satisfaction...

    The Road

Enjoyed that. I'm looking forward to hearing the remix with some panning. Be careful , my younger brother "did" chip a tooth with a juice harp. mark

    Questions about compressors

Besides just taming peaks and raising levels , compression will glue tracks together better. An example would be 3 or 4 acoustic guitars each with compressors taming just their high peaks (without any gain increase). They will sound better , but still a little jumbled up and scattered. Send them...

    New song called......"The Reason"

Very Nice ! Great vocals and harmonies. I agree the reverb could be backed off on the early verses. It didn't sound excessive to me once you got to the first chorus. The kick didn't bother me but , maybe a db of reduction would make it sound even better. Enjoyed the song .. mark

Flat Rock -Final Mix - (again)

@Serendipity Records , Thanks for the drums suggestion. I'll probably play with them a little more later. @dachay2tnr , I'm not hearing excessive reverb on the Vox tracks even with them soloed. I think a lot of the verb was coming from the close to centered tremolo guitar track. Great call on...

Flat Rock -Final Mix - (again)

The link now reflects Remix 1. I tamed the drums a little using 1/8 instead of 1/16 patterns (except for the outro) and lowered them a bit. Added a shaker (needs further work) and reduced the reverb on the electric guitar and Vox tracks. Thanks for the suggestions so far .. Still a work in...
