Rope & Gravity - LoFi Americana - is it right or a 'try-hard'

This is an excellent song. I really like your voice, was that long note for real or did you use some jiggery pokery, that was amazing. I liked the lyrics as well. The lo-fi and synthy things I thought work well and where used subtly. you resisted bringing the drums in until quite late on, which...

    I Know - new mix

Thanks a lot guys, that means a lot to me. Glad you liked the highs reganito, that's something I've been working on as my other mixes have been muddy. I think the difference on the guitars was a 2-3 db boost at 2k on one and 3k on the other. I was lacking bass as well, almost no kick. I boosted...

    New Mix: Vague Disatisfaction

Good punky, new wave vibe. Probably need a bit of top end eq to brighten up the vocals, cymbals and a bit more low end on the bass guitar and kick. Good.

    keeping it simple

I like the simple mix too, I think it suits the song. If you have more than one mic the guitar would have sounded good recorded with a stereo pair, it would just give it a bit of space.

Rookie Mix - The Bitter End - folkrock/americana ala Old97's

I would have liked the bass up some. I like your upper tones, that's something I'm not good at. I always end up making it sound harsh and thin when I try to add highs. During the solo the guitar in the left could come up a notch. Really liked the tone of the guitar in the right on the solo.

    Folkish tune.

Love it. Don't think I could improve on it, although I do agree with the others about the repeat vocal thing. Although on second listen I was warning to it. I liked the bass.

    I Know - new mix

Feedback on my earlier said my drums where boxy and muddy and the kick was low. I tried a fix eq the whole mix last time, this time I've remixed and eq'd the drums and add some parallel compression to the snare and kick. i'd much appreaciate some feedback please. Many thanks in advance. Artful...

Unfortunately I can't play piano, bass, drums, .... or guitar.

"Unfortunately I can't play piano, bass, drums, .... or guitar." - it's never stopped me. You have a cool voice.

Recording my bands EP in my basement. how am i doing?

Agree with ecktronic. Main gripe was that the bass guitar sounds off centre. I liked the kick, but the rest of the kit seemed to need a little work EQ wise. But generally the mixes sounded pretty well balanced. very good, especially considering the amount of time you've been recording. Possibly...

What are your thoughts on this mix?

If this is a first go at recording drums I think it's pretty good. Drums are something I'm working on at the moment and I'd be pleased with this. personally I'd like to hear a touch more top end on the cymbals and snare. There's a couple of times when the off-beat tom hit on the main beat seems...

Can I get your input on my first mix?

Agree about the vocals, but I think the end result is good, captured the vibe and feel. Reminded me of the Moby Dick riff. Liked it.

    What's wrong with my vocals?

Crysiq. Yes, for me the vocals are a little loud in the mix, but the rap around 1.58 is about right.

working with surround in logic pro for the first time

Not my genre but very good song, hooky chorus. Nice vocals, did you use autotune or similar on them? Especially on the female's vocal? Would have like to hear it without. There's a synth arpegio/melody during the chorus that i would have liked to be more up front. Very nice.

Violin New Age - Used different mic'ing technique.

Yeh, I noticed the slight movement, that's what made be think of the spaced pair, I've never come across the mid side technique. It's amazing what a difference using two mics does, you just get that sense of space, even in a pretty dead room. But the important question; was I right about the...

Violin New Age - Used different mic'ing technique.

The violin could do with being taken down a notch or two, but other than that it's very good, don't mind the pitch issues, it sounds like a real instrument, somethimes things can sound too perfect (something I've never been accused of). I'm guessing two mics about 3-4 feet apart pointing to...

Oh no Johns head has gone ,BETTER MIX i hope U DECIDE BRUTHAS

I say, I say, I say that's a lot better. Still some distortion there, but it kind of fits and the vocals could still be a more upfront and the spoken samples could be clearer, but this is definitely an improvement. Good one.

Clawdaddy - 40 homemade tracks, up on Soundcloud

Hi Clawdaddy. Particularly liked SH, reminded me of maybe I'm a beggar from the first Supertramp album. Didn't have time to listen to all the tracks, lots of experimental stuff on there. Many reminded me of Syd Barratt. WS was a nice one as well.

    New Folk Artist

Yeah, a bit of funk bass, a two handed tapping guitar solo and some thrash screaming backing vocals are what's lacking here ;) No this is great. A really fine singer, nice songs. Loved the stripped back approach. You did introduce her as a new folk artist after all, not that folk can't have...

    Rate this song please

I think that sounds a lot better. Still maybe lacking a kick drum unless I'm missing the vibe of the song, it just seems that with the sounds your using the beat should have a bit more ooomph. It sounds good though. Your vocals remind me of Brain Molko of Placebo.
