    Group Buy Interest?

Ya gotta watch that Chance... he's a tricky one... I did that for weeks, then I leave for a Thanksgiving trip without my computer... and BAM! there it is when I get back. (I wanna know how he knew!!! :D)

Jackson CMG Bass - Amber Flame

I picked this bass up a while ago and have just really never played it. I had the nut reworked, and put new strings on it, but it's pretty much just sat in my rack or a case ever since. I'm looking to pick up materials to build a new bass, so I'm doing something I haven't done in probably 20...

    GB mic's, first impressions.

Forgot the 122 was phantom powered... wonder how it compairs to a 121. I've heard the preamp really makes or breaks the 121 which is part of the allure of the 122.

    GB mic's, first impressions.

Not bad, but definitely a difference. I wounder how a transformer swap might help. The ACM lacks the sparkle and life of the "other" example. By itself its sound good, clean... but side by side... even though they're kinda close, it just sounds dull. Still... for the $$$ involved, a very...

I think I submitted mine at 11:50pm on 5/6. That's gotta make me the tail end. Any prizes for that? :p

    Mic Gain

For live sound, I've always turned up the preamp, EQ'd the channel, then final adjust the preamp gain to just below peak. This ends up giving me the greatest flexibility and range with the fader for mixing. In the studio, it comes down to the sound. I'll vary between running a lot of gain and...

Wow, 46db is it? I would have thought MOTU would have build a little more into the unit than that.

    GB mic's, first impressions.

Wow, just sat down in the studio... and A & B sound comletely different here. For your voice, now I'd gp with A. The bass that I iiked on the cheap speakers, now seems to make it dull and a little muddy. The brightness in A sounds like it might really sit on top of a mix nicely. The ACM-3...

    GB mic's, first impressions.

I'm not sure which is which as I don't have a C414 to base things off. I probably should have used something other than my cheap computer speakers... but... Sample B seems to have a little more "life" to it than does A. By itself, I'd probably lean towards "B"... in a mix though, it seemed to...

    GB mic's, first impressions.

Glad to hear about the 310. I ordered two of these... Thinking stereo micing applications... acoustics, overheads, sounds like they may just work out as planned. Can't wait to hear some reviews on the ACM-3.

    Group Buy Interest?

Chance... Don't worry about getting to mine next week. There's no way it will arrive before I leave town and I'd rather not have the package sitting on my porch for days on end. I'll have a computer with me and will be able to send paypal while I'm out of town... at that point, I should be...

Caotico Thanks for posting the pics. The 583 is smaller than I imagined. Can't wait to hear some reviews of the ACM-310 and ACM-3.

Patience... he's doing the packaging and shipping in batches. At this point, the majority of us haven't received the paypal requests yet. Add on to that the poor guy is having some computer problems slowing him down a bit as well.

Mics from Pic #1 & #3 look interesting. Chance... any word on the preamps yet?

    Group Buy Interest?

I think the "brand name" shockmount is about 3 times the price of the ACM-3. I'll be patient and wait on the shockmounts in January. I ordered extras as well. Kinda important for me, I have a number of uses for them. But if they take longer to get... they take longer to get.

What applications are the Blue Baby Bottle used for?

Going from memory, they are fairly flat with a slight peak just under 3000hz. To my ear when I tested one, it kinda reminded me of an AT 4047 with a little more edge. Some people really like them, some people really don't. It all comes down to the source you're mic'ing whether it will work...

    Solved SM81 sound clips

BTW... there was a mod article for the SM81 several months back in Home Recording that supposedly really opened up the detail of the mic. It was basically removing some of the physical capsule protection from the very end of the Mic. It makes the mic less durable, so not good for live use, but...
