Have a look at this:

You can get your CD rom to work if you use a WIN98 startup disk. I've done it before many times.
I suspect the drivers that are trying to install don't work with the hardware. Try and install the drivers you...

I wonder if sae's name is Mike, too ?
If not, he's from Canada, so that's all right... :D
Reminds me of a Monty Python sketch...
"Mind if we call you Mike, just to keep things straight ?"
(Actually in that sketch, the straight man's name was Michael - everyone else was named Bruce - now...
Actually, my main PC (recording and etc) is using 98 as well - maybe I'll have to check that link out again for 98 power toys !
Thanks for the info, mike.
That's weird, it feels like I'm talking to myself... :D
Yep, if that's all you've got, that's what you do.
I have one, and am pleased with what it does for me, and what it cost. It got me started, anyway, and I now know its limitations. You get what you pay for :D .
I use it as a mic pre, a pre for my acoustic, and intend to use it on bass (which...
They have to know how to _work_ a mic.
Some of the best singers I've heard just suck that thing down when they stand in front of it.
Either that or they're afraid to step into it.

mic (I mean Mike)

You have to play _extremely_ cleanly to avoid all those skanky notes that you don't want. And it...
Joe's right, that's the way to do it.
The reason it is happening the way you have it currently connected is due to loading. The effective impedance of the devices you have connected together is lower than what your soundcard's input is expecting. As well, when you play a tape, some of that...
I consider the Godin LGX-SA to be the best GK-2A "ready" guitar around. In addition to it's synth access ability, its flexibility of tone outside the midi realm make it well worth the money. It's plug and play into any 13-pin GK-2 device.

A few people swear by using an inexpensive pre like the TubeMP. Personally, I haven't tried it, but look forward to when I pick up a bass in the near future.
Right now, I'm using my guitar synth with a fretless bass patch direct into my sound card for bass. It's ok, but nothing to write home...
Other than (as you said) putting XLR connectors and boxes in the wall, you can get rubber grommets of varying sizes. These will protect the cables, as well as providing a moderately pleasing look.
Get some plain electrical box cover plates from Home Depot (or wherever - the kind that would...
