    Martin Backpacker

Hell, why did I not think of that ? Although, if yer drinkin' it, the head will slowly droop. Wait a minute ... :o:eek:;)

    Martin Backpacker

I find mine "head heavy". Irritably so, sometimes. I've taken to put a small bag of marbles/ball bearings hanging off the end pin, when I have the strap on, to balance it out. Works great !

    Laser?

Mark Erlewine also designed the Chiquita (I think that's what you mean). It's little travel guitar (also licensed to Hondo in the 80's). Erlewine's building them now as well.

    Laser?

It's a Lazer The Lazer (from what I've been able to glean from the internet  ): Mark Erlewine licensed his design to Hondo in the 80's, and once the licensing agreement expired, he began building them himself. The Hondo version was a single humbucker. The current versions...

    Californication guitar

If it looks like an LP Junior with 2 P-90's, then it's an LP Special. '55 to '59, they were in TV Yellow (maybe this is what you saw. Juniors or Specials were ever natural from the factory, they were sunburst, cherry or TV yellow). Price guide puts it between $11-14 K. Don't know if you would...

    New axe (G.A.S....)

I suspect it had something to do with the weight of the Firebirds - he's a pretty fragile guy these days, and this little thing is a lot easier to handle, and weighs a lot less. JMHO.

    New axe (G.A.S....)

In contrast to the "other" new guitar thread, thought you all might be interested in my newest acquisition. It's an early 80's IMC/Hondo Lazer. Don't see many of these around (or even their pricier cousins - the Erlewine Lazer, which Johnny Winter currently plays). Not much info to be found...

(i got da) craigslist blues [warning: rant content]

I hear there are lots of these scam e-mails when you list things in specific categories (esp. music, electronics and cars). While I've bought lots of things off Craigslist, all we've sold is children's stuff, and we received only valid, interested mail (in D.C.). My Father tried to sell his GPS...

    Classical Guitar Recommendations

If you have any Spanish skills, I would seriously suggest trying to get something from Paracho (Michoacan) in Mexico. A classical or flamenco handmade out of non-imported woods there will cost you less than $1K and will hands down beat anything you can buy in CG for that price. I have a...

    Fender Sidekick 35 Reverb???

I have one that I bought in Japan for about $100 back in '97. Was probably about 10 years old then. For me, it has been worth every penny - the tones are pretty versatile for a solid state amp, and it has a great spring reverb. The amp cranks out amazingly well for its size- i've used it jamming...

    Baritone Guitars

Guitar Player mag had a 7 baritone review in March, so it's now online. http://www.guitarplayer.com/article/seven-baritone-electrics/Mar-08/34253 Bought the mag at an airport when I had nothing to read ... The reviews, while short, should give you a good idea of prices and build quality. Made...

    The One That Got Away

Strangely enough, mine was a 1964 too. A pristine '64 ES330. It was advertised in the paper when I was 15, and the guy brought it over for me to have a look. Let me keep it for a week. He wanted $400. After the week, I tried to convince my parents to let me buy it (with a loan from them)...

    Opinions on Purchases ...PLEASE!!!

Hate to say it, and I'm not always a follower of my own advice , but never, ever, get rid of gear you really like to buy something else. I've regretted it a few times. Keep looking, save your pennies, buy a Tele and a Blues Deluxe when you can, and play them all. Trust me, you'll...

what's the hardest guitar riffs/solos to learn ever?

Virtually ANYTHING by Allan Holdsworth ... The latest Guitar Player mag has a great article on him - quotes by EVH, Vai, Satch saying they can't figure out how the hell he plays some things.

For the love of God, SOMEONE help me tune my 12 string guitar!

Holy crap, this is an old thread ....:D BTW, to clarify my 12 that exploded - I always had it tuned E - e. Probably 10 to 15 years with no issues. But after not playing it for upwards of a year, with the attendant humidity changes in Canada, the neck separated from the soundblock due to...

    Posting Blues revisited

Thanks, bigbubba, appreciate the listen, and your comments. I'm not much of a bass player - I'm glad I did something that worked ! And it only took me a couple takes - that was more surprising. Mike

    Posting Blues revisited

In 2002, when I got posted to Seoul, I did a quick little tune for the party we have (see https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=54735&highlight=posting - the original isn't there anymore, though). It was a one take wonder, written and recorded in an hour. Since then, it's been a big...
