since your not a drummer and new to tuning, just try and tighten all the lugs until they feel like they are about the same tension. Don't tune to a note unless you want to drive yourself crazy.

Just buy the PRS because you only live once and when you get out of college and start making money you will be glad you did.

Since you are a beginner and you like it. Then yes it is a great mic for a beginner.
