Order CDs vs. burn my own CD-Rs - a problem of CD player compatibility

Make a .ddp file if you want to replicate discs. If you want to burn copies yourself go to the local thrift store and get an Epson or Canon printer with the cd tray. I keep an Epson I paid about $8 for under my desk in case I need to burn a one off. Much cooler than a label.

Be careful with resource-heavy plugins while tracking

I'm talking about tracking and monitoring through a plugin, like for example a track with a UA preamp and maybe an 1176 and LA2A plugin and having no latency when recording.

Be careful with resource-heavy plugins while tracking

Out of curiosity, can you track while monitoring resource-heavy plug-ins without latency? I was under the impression that apps like Console (UA_ exist to solve this problem.

Be careful with resource-heavy plugins while tracking

This is why many of us use hardware and/or AAXDSP.

    HOW TO RELIEVE GAS?

IIRC, Les had a friend who was in the hospital recovering from surgery and had them spray one gold to cheer his friend up. I heard this years ago, so I'm not sure if it's true but it seems plausible.

Here is Episode 1 of my new Luthier Video series on YouTube. Please check it out and do the Like & Subscribe thing to help me build this channel.

I subscribed a few weeks ago. Great so far! I found this at a local thrift store and thought of you. It doesn't need any work, which is unusual but for the price I couldn't leave it!

    HOW TO RELIEVE GAS?

Beautiful Goldtop! It's good to not have the GAS. After many years, I own everything I want. About five years ago, I made a list of the guitars I didn't have but really wanted to own. I came up with: - a nice 12-string (RI Guild or Rickenbacker) - an Ovation nylon string - an ES-175 or Gibson...

    MIDI for Dummies

There's a fantastic book, MIDI for the Professional, which I bought for a college class and still use as a reference. You can probably get a used copy for a few dollars. Understanding MIDI has been tremendously helpful to me over the years. Mainly because I use some quirky MIDI devices and...

    Switching amps

I thought about getting something like this but ended up just doing some color coded speaker cables, which works for my purposes. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/8x4Amp--kahayan-8x4-amp-speaker-selector

    New mic or new strip?

    Not if he's close mic'ing.

I tried to treat my very small home studio; I’m now looking for advice to make it better as I think I’ve over done it.

I would have positioned my speakers according to the manual before I spent a penny on "room treatment".

    let me see your studio!

I've been updating over the past few weeks. Both of my old tape machines have been serviced, and I wanted to record with the computer on or off. I also added a new monitor to replace my old Apple Cinema display, which is now in my office. One thing about my office is that it's where I spend...

The SHOCKING Behringer NEVE 1073 Preamp

I've done the cheap thing and I've done the mix and match quality gear thing. These days, I have one of those little API mixers, a 4 channel API preamp and a couple (Audio Scape) LA-2A and 1176 comps along with a nice old Larc reverb by Lexicon. I've found (for me) keeping to the things I like...

Times like these we learn to rack again

Somewhere I have an ADA MP-1, but the chorus doesn't work on it. I have a Digitech Twin Tube that gets used more than I would like to admit for weird sounds.

Who still mixes with a console?

I use The Box and recall sheets for my 500 series gear. For my hardware (1176, a couple LA2A, etc) I put the plugin set like the hardware as a placeholder for recalls:P

    Digitech GSP 21

I have the Twin Tube, which is from the same series. When these came out they were unobtainable for me. I had a GSP-21 for a few months a long time ago. Bought it cheap and it was fun to play with. The Twin Tube actually has some really unique sounds I can't get out of anything else. A sleeper...

Order CDs vs. burn my own CD-Rs - a problem of CD player compatibility

I get printed blank CD-Rs from Disk Makers. They have my company logo on them, and they're not that expensive. Usually, I order 100, and they cost about $120. It's more than buying a spindle; they look good and always seem to work. I have an old HHB CD recorder that I bypass the converters on...
