    Always Be - New Song

Impossible to give a take on the mix as the purevolume compression is ruining the sound. (just like myspace does) post up the MP3 somewhere if you'd like an opinion..

    Video "Carpe Diem"

Like these guys!! good tunes! need rearrangement but the potential sounds there.. And so true about the vids, I have a collection of stuff from when I was a kid and it's golden to pull them out when a few of the old bandmates call around for a beer.. Cringeworthy! But golden!

    Guitar multi-effect

And try the behringer v-amp2 (yes I did say behringer!!) Great sounds.. and cheap as chips! Also something to beaer in min with the decision. Do you want the processing and latency required for a plugin over an external unit. E.g. you want to play with grig3 running, you will have a toss up...

    Mac Mini and Garage Band

There a re a million choices (I'm sottty to say!!) A few quesstions to ask yousself to help in the decision.. 1. How many simultaneous tracks do you want to record? 2, Do you need USB or Firewire? (firewire would be th interface of choice for multi-tracking) 3. Any plan in the back of your...

Vocal recording: How many tracks is standard?

Had a listen to all 4 and would have to say very little processing and very good vocalist/performances.

    MSH2s as Overheads

I'm using the MSH1s as overheads and pretty good job they're doing.. You can hear them in a mix at the end of this thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=268975

Vocal recording: How many tracks is standard?

It all depends as mentioned above. And don't forgetting backing vox and harmonies. And get a few good takes and use different bits from different takes (I think that's what cobbled is referring to above) i.e. take 1 verse one is good but verse 2 is bad, so cut in verse 2 from a different take etc.

The Best View In The Room

Sounds good. Nice acoustic sound and nice leccy guitar.. I'd leave the vox as single track with some backing bits/harmonies etc.. rather than doubled (if thats what I'm hearing). Drums are very programmed sounding though.. All in all.. I liked! Catchy choon!

I Sit, remix with real drums.

sounds great! Kick drum might need a touch work.. Maybe a little muddy? Just my humble opinion.. Nice drum work for a rusty drummer!

    The Project is complete!

Cheers for the input.. I was happy enough with the masters, theres just a tight cut of the noisy freqs (modelled gtrs) around the 2k and 100hz and then some compression to boost the vol. Hmmm. Any other ears care to comment? edit.. just checked the master eq for details: combtooth at 150hz, 3k...

One from a CD mastered in my home studio

Not as "thin" but still yeah pretty thin.. What I was getting at when I said that first (should have been clearer obviously!) Was it sounds like its missing a load of lo end, no matter what speakers its through, they sound like small speakers.. maybe a lo shelf might help if theres any lows...
