You know what boggles my mind—all this talk about buying a small amp 'cause it's easy to move to and from gigs. Isn't there any glory in finishing a show covered in sweat and grunting and cursing while you drag a 100 pound guitar amp up some rickety stairs and out to the street where you moan...

Using an amp as a pre amp

IMHO you should just marry your girlfriend. Her mesa would become your common property. Make sure you sell your two amps before you pop the question, and keep the cash in your sock drawer.

    Show Us Your Pedalboard

better than nothing I played a show in an art gallery last night. Someone took a few pictures that included my pedal board. I've been trying to remember to snap a proper picture of it but I always forget. You can kind of see everything. The signal chain: Korg Pitchblack MXR DynaComp Radial...

I think a lot of you underestimate the volume level of most modern rock bands. I have a 20W practice amp that I use when I'm practicing alone or recording, but even with an extension cab it cannot be heard with the rest of the band. Granted my drummer is perpetually sitting on the fault line...

    mic the snare

Pay attention to this advice. This man is speaking the truth. Who told you this? The only mics I'm aware of that you need to be careful with are ribbon mics.

    mic the snare

I've never recorded a snare on its own. In general, though, I think you're confusing two different techniques. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiFOD1EeKhQ. This is the recorderman method of recording drums with only two overheads. It works very well. You might get a good sound out of a single...

    reel-to-reel

I actually intended to try to add a playhead and turn it into a tape-loop machine. I figured if I screwed it up I wouldn't lose much. We have another reel-to-reel in the studio, an old otari machine that works pretty well. But we mostly record digital as it's easier and we just want rough mixes...

    no fx loop

I assume since you're playing a Line Six you're a member of my generation and not one of the older guys. This Delay-in-FX-loop things has gone the way of the birds, man. First off, nothing is set in stone. Put shit wherever you want it. If it sounds good, let it be. Tom Morello from Rage...

I still wouldn't buy one, but this is impressive

this is what I posted on the youtube comments: I'll never hit my pedalboard with a scooter. I'll never hit it with a lawnmower. I won't hit it with a truck. If it gets run over by a tank I've got other problems. How does this thing handle a pint of guinness dumped right on top? How does it...
