    Monitor stands...big difference?

I was recently getting one of my recording projects mastered at Threshold Sound + Vision by Jeff King. He was telling me about how having your monitors and stands makes the hugest difference in how well your mixes will turn out. I looked into it and I can get a pair of KK audio stands for 50...

    Optical cable

no neither of them are SPDIF, they're both optical. I can see the little light sensors on both cables, one is just an 1/8th inch plug and the other is the standard for the ADAT lightpipe and home theater digital audio systems. Thanks, T

    Optical cable

I have two optical cables, one that has a sort of square piece on it that makes it fit into all my pro audio gear, and another that is just the same size as an 1/8" jack. Are these two totally different types of optical cable or is there some kind of adapter i can put on 1/8" one to make it fit...

    Cerwin Vega V-15e Loudspeakers

Thanks for the reply, I tried the Cerwin Vegas and they sucked. Even the new Cerwin Vegas are no good? I heard the cheap JBL line is crap, and to trust Behringer? T

    Am I losing signal quality?

This is just an easy yes or no... In my rack I'm connecting my preamp (balanced XLR out) directly to my computer interface (1/4")with a very short XLR to 1/4" unbalanced cable. Am i losing signal quality by connecting it with an XLR to 1/4" cable instead of using an XLR to XLR cable with an...

    Cerwin Vega V-15e Loudspeakers

Hello, I need some new PA speakers and I found these used from looks like the late 70's/80's. Does anyone know if these are any good or what I should pay for them? I know Cerwin Vega stuff is generally nice, but i don't know if that is the case from this time period. Thanks a lot, T

    Making edited tracks into ONE

Is there a way to take all of my edited tracks (bunches of segments and crossfades) into their own individual continuous tracks? I don't mind having them how they are, but wherever there's a spot in a project where theres a lot of crossfades or edit points my computer will start having problems...

How do folks have their monitors hooked up?

uhhh... back to the central station are the converters in the central station an upgrade from the converters in a MOTU 828MKII? I'm asking because i want one because it'd be nice to have monitoring that simple and if those couple converters were better it'd put it over the edge and i'd get it...

    Cubase SX output routing

I've always done my compression after tracking sending the original track through the output and running the compressed signal back in. I've always just 'lived with' hearing the original track while hearing the new track being recorded. How do i make it so I can't hear the original track at...

Just got my CD back from Mastering...need some thoughts OK!!

Hah I like it a lot, sounds A LOT like ALice in Chains. The separation is really distinctive, I feel like I'd like to hear everything fit together nicer, but it still sounds really good. I thought soundclick only supported 128kbps T

    reggae style party band

awesome thanks You really think the vocals are too soft? I like them where they are but i'm gonna look into it more. The horns are live, just they sucked and i had to copy and paste pretty much every note from good takes. (and autotune) thanks for the comments, T
