    Vocals not sitting in mix.

A good tube saturator plug in solves that problem for me. Gives the vocal a nice tight sound, Crisp and punchy. I no longer have to fuss with EQ's and compressors at all. Check out the vox on this track. Actually I use the saturator on vocals bass and guitars...

PA beginner to bars...where's the beef?

A bigger concern is the tone you'll get. I'm a big fan of midrange speakers. Not horns, but 6's, 8's and 10's. the human voice clocks in between the 3-5000hz range. The tweeters are designed for above 5000 and the 15 could possibly do it IF they were EVM's, but not those. Listen to any CD made...

    Hippodrome

The drums sound a little "too" fake sounding. Try to add in some variety to throw off scrutinizing ears. The guitars are very 80's hair band-ish. OK with me.Solo probably too long. Vocals are hip and sound good. The song itself is poppy and punky. keeps you hangin' on.

You using an amp? What kind? It matters.

how do YOU get a great electric guitar sound? (clean)

Dittos on the Tube MP. Lose it. I might suggest getting your vocal condenser, setting it back a ways and letting the amp sit out in the room.

PA beginner to bars...where's the beef?

Cheap mics are always going to result in nasty feedback. So what do you do? Turn down the hi's and end up with a "woofy" vocal sound. Not good. I would suggest at least 1 good mic for the lead singer. A Shure BETA 58 is a great choice. Maybe $100 on Ebay. The Electro Voive N/D 767a is another...

Only one verse left, FOR YOU!!

Don't be afraid of changing all your self made plans and blame the world for setbacks with your head in the sand every single victory is a monument on a hill built on layers of failures and the words of "yes I will"

    How DO YOU mix?

Sometimes what you want out of a track is just not achievable with what you have to work with. Assuming you have a lot of tracks to play with, I would suggest doing 2-3 sets of double tracks of guitars and especially vocals. My best song has a very powerful vocal chorus. It sounds like 1-2...

    Master Is Frustrating me!

I have a little test that works great. Listen to a couple of your favorite CD's that come close to what you want. Then listen to your music in: 1. computer monitor 2. good car stereo cd 3. cheap jam box cd Go back. Tweak. Take a day off. Go back tweak again. 1 more day. Tweak-RUN.

Fender Super Champ XD or Champ 25SE- Which To Sell?

Personally, I would KEEP the Super Champ XD. It has so many variables and goes with about any genre. You never know who's gonna pop in the door next and with that amp, it will offer way more than the other. That being said, guitarists are usually tone freaks and will bring their own amp and then...

How do you get published for radio play?

THANKS SEDSTAR!!! I would not have posted that if I didn't think it was a great song. I have many others, but they are not THAT good. personally, I HATE country. I didn't think it sounded like that, but if you did, cool because a lot of people like country music. I guess I was asking HOW to get...

    Post your MySpace link

I came up with a pretty cool music style. Huge beats, slide & wah guitars, screaming harp (harmonica) and big vocals full of hooks. I'd like someone to tell me what to call this music. Genre? I'm stumped as what to call it. Funky folk rock hillbilly metal blues? http://www.myspace.com/thunderharp

My $3000 Hip Hop Home Studio Setup. Any advice?

No good engineer has ONE vocal mic. You'll need a few because of the difference in the tone/timbre of people's voices. As always, I suggest Blue's "Bluebird". Awesome all around mic. $300 new

    Tuning

Our drummer always tuned his toms with the Mary-had-a-little-lamb tune. Don't quite know why, but he was a professional.

    combo amps

I agree with the 5 watt tube amp thing. I LOVE the fender champion 600. Great clean jangly tones, but will produce good distortion. You might need pedals for high gain stuff. Seen 'em on Ebay for $100 Avoids the Crate, Bugera and Kustom at all costs. I'm not much into the sound of the vox &...

    Blue Bluebird vs AT2041SP

The AT 2000 series is not as good as the 3000 or 4000. My Bluebird blows my AT 3035 (3000 series) away. I doubt that the one you are looking at is worth it. That Bluebird is extremely versitile.

Mic suggestions to fill holes in my collection?

I LOVE Blue's "Bluebird" condenser. It's a great sounding, low coloring go-to mic that does great on vocals but can also produce great acoustic guitars, and drums (even close mic'ing. It's about $300 and worth every penny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt6LOMoTsS0&feature=channel

    Very Cool DIY instrument

Very cool. Here's a hot one NOT sold in stores but made in America. Awesome for solo artists. The $900+ price tag means I'll not get one for Christmas:( http://www.footdrums.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6

    Recording vocals in stereo?

Agreed. I get some fab results by recording 1 track on center, then sing an identical track at 50% volume and panned 30-50% right. Stereo recording ??? NAH

How do you get published for radio play?

Yeah, I can understand that. But I am in no way interested in "making it" in the music business. I was referring to just having a great song that could do well on certain radio stations. If part of that is "making it" in the business..then forgattabout it:mad:
