    If your looking for fat and puffy go with tubes. ART pro channel is a good choice. If you want detail and transparency you might try the Grace Design 101. Bought mine about two months ago and it blows my mind. About $600. Greg

    Altec 201B

    Well they're grey and abou the diameter of a lipstick tube but the microphone is about 6 inhes long with the capsule attached. They also have a db attenuation switch on the side with 0, -10, -20, -30. I've done a little research in the last couple of hours and it seems these may be AKG c-451...

    SM-57. I used them to record many hardcore bands when I didn"t want the singers anywhere near my good mics. I heard Michael Jackson even used them on certain songs. Greg
