Hi! I'm a newbe also; In doing my research on this and other forums I bought a saffire le interface. It has two preamps plus enough in/outs to get me started. I like that 60's stuff as well, I was listening when it was new. Hope this helps.

I feel more comfortable with buttons,knobs,etc. than a mouse and the extra inputs will come in handy, I won't have to upgrade for a while.
