Some Samples of Commonly used AT mics...

I'm able to download the samples, so maybe the problem is fixed now... The mics sound really good on acoustic guitar, haven't listened to them yet on vocals. They all sound great, but I can notice a big difference with the 4060.

Ok...I thought his threads were kind of funny at first, now they're just getting annoying. Like, every 10 seconds he's posting a new one.

Weird Song For Headphones: A New Age

Well, my friend came over a few nights ago, and we recorded this off the top of our heads, we don't usually rehearse or anything before we record, mainly because we're too lazy. Anyway, it was recorded in one take, in mono, with a single MXL 990 mic and an audio buddy, in a crappy bedroom. He...

    60's and 70's mastering simple

Just get something like Har-Bal, load it up, make all the little squiggly lines at the same level and click the 'magic' button and that's all there really is to it. The demo is only in 8-bit but we're talking 60s stuff here so maybe it will give you that authentic classic sound that you're after.

Need your suggestions. must do Hi-fi stream for now

Just had a listen, great song. :) The solo was real good, I loved the tone of the lead guitar...what kind of setup did you use for the solo if you don't mind me asking? I'm not an expert when it comes to mixing but everything sounded fine to me on my desktop speakers.

    self promotion.....when 17 years old

Self-promotion really boils down to 2 things: 1. Producing (making good music) If your music isn't good enough to sell it never will no matter how well you market it. Also getting your CD labels designed, and CDs duplicated, usually starting at about 500-1000 copies depending on how much you...

    The MSH-4!

Never knew what harmonic distortion meant until I read that, thanks. :) I'd love to hear an A/B test on your tube mic and another condensor, or just a clip of the MSH-4 on guitar. I heard clips of your MSH-1 (A?) when browsing the forums and it sounded just as good, if not better than my MXL...

Acoustic pickups for a live performer??

Yes probably because they don't have to mess with mic placement, etc. Once you plug an acoustic guitar up to something, it essentially becomes an electric guitar. If you're going to go the pickup route, get a pickup with a small microphone that goes in the soundhole, like a...

    best home pc solution?

Sounds like you're recording too "hot", or loud. Look at the volume meters at the bottom of Adobe Audition. To the right of them should be two boxes, if they turn red then you're clipping, and this causes distortion. Try messing with the faders on your mixer or the windows volume control panel...

    I Really Dont Understand Bouncing????

Yea but who actually reads the manuals anyway? Usually just randomly right-clicking on things and looking through the menus until you see what you're after is quicker.

Attaching a guitar nut to neck... Help please...

If you have to ask you might be better off taking it to a shop, at least the first time you have it done.

    Really basic Questions . . . .

Obviously a soundblaster isn't meant for recording, and there are less expensive ones like M-Audio that are meant specifically for recording, but I've gotten good results from a SoundBlaster. Obviously I'm going to be upgrading soon, but when people say it's "garbage" it's pretty misleading...

Special FX VST (Lounge Lizard, etc.)

I downloaded the demo of Lounge Lizard today and have been messing around with it, very cool plugin. Does anyone know of any other sound FX programs similiar to this one? Doesn't matter if it's standalone, VST, DX, etc. I've already searched long & hard on www.kvraudio.com and found several...

    putting together electronics

Or maybe get one of those AM/FM radio kits? Not sure who sells them now but I put one together along time ago and actually learned quite a bit about how that stuff works. You could also pick up an introductory book on electronics.

Most Simple Home Studio Set Up

I saved up for a few weeks working part time to get Adobe Audition. If I can afford it working part time, anyone can. If you don't want to spend the cash, then download Audacity or another freeware program that can do pretty much the same thing as most others. You don't need ProTools to make...

    Mic in Computer

I've had the best luck with an Audio Buddy . The DMP3 is also a good preamp, probably better than the AudioBuddy. I'm not an expert on preamps, but for a cheap price, you can expet about the same results. Maybe someone else can recommend a better one.

    Mic in Computer

Ok, first of all, you need some sort of interface...something to plug your microphone into. The signal from a microphone is too weak to be plugged straight into a soundcard. This is why you need what's called a PREAMP. It amplifies the signal enough to be recorded by your computer's soundcard...
