I'm very sure there are some freeware vst hosts for OS X try going to macmusic.org and checking the freeware section under the software downloads. I've seen vst hosts before...just never had a use for one, since I allready have one in my DAW software.

reaper isn't yet functional for mac last I checked... I'd give it a while before going for that.

0sx86 is hackintosh. I can't see why you'd need special plugins... After all, it is OS X... but I could be wrong.

if it's allready recorded...try going into some audio editing software...zoom in really far and reduce the volume of the plosives. that could help a bit. It's always best to get that shit going in, though... if you can, for the future use a pop filter.

I haven't really experienced anything like that..esp with guitar amp pro (it uses hardly any CPU for a guitar amp sim, even at 96kHz) What updates did you apply. I haven't applied some of the newer ones, like the plugin manager update, just because I am paranoid that way... I'd be interested...

you need to be running os x for a logic node...and doesn't final cut pro need os x for render nodes (I'm not 100% sure of that one). Linux would work for a file server, but there are a lot of sexy features I'd miss if not keeping strictly with os x.
