    Cutting Corners

and with all of that said (without me having to open my mouth) cutting corners is an art. I don't like using the term "cutting corners" but I think I know what you're talking about, regardless. I'll just stick with the title of "cutting corners" to keep some amount of consistency. Knowing where...

    Analog vs. Digital ... Microphones

THat's besides the point. :D My mind is weird, regardless. I actually tested out the old adage...take a really weird person, do some drugs...see what happens... yup...it turns me a lot more normal.

    Analog vs. Digital ... Microphones

I think that the tape saturating vintage tubes are better in that line of chrome plated mics more than the digital confounders that are rumored to exist in plastic digital mics. :D ;) :) ;) :D

Which mastering program in my case.

hell yeah. I love that plugin. If I had to choose only one plugin to keep and had to delete the rest...that would be the one.

no sound from MIDI controller in Logic Pro

reinstall. drivers if no go, then logic. Logic works with that, so there's no chance of it just not working.

Why must my mono songs become converted to "stereo" on cd

Because it says so in the bible. Thou shalt not be mono, for the penalty of mono is death.

Your ears are the best mastering equipment in every case. :)

    A Dying Industry

Don't worry..it's not dying... just changing... wait it out and adapt quickly as it moves into it's new state, and you'll be greatly rewarded for it. The music business has changed quite drastically several times and it did just fine. The major labels are the only thing which could end up dying...

    Is this logo too unprofessional?

I got it. With the wings... a possible idea to make it a little more compact... make the wings kind of wrapping around the sides as if they're in the down position. But really, again.. it depends totally on the context... some designs would probably call for something really compact, some it...

How do I add depth to my mix?

add depth in the mix by adding depth in the musical arrangement... it's probably the most effective way.

vocal rever, when to add it?

however you want to/whatever sounds good. I'd suggest very small amounts of reverb or delay just to give it a little depth (unless the room has a bit of ambience to it already).. unless you are consciously going for a REVERB effect. Then, do whatever you want.

    Is this logo too unprofessional?

looks cool either way. it depends on the context.

Does What I Want Actually Exist?

why does it matter if the pres are encased in the board, or in a self contained box?

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

yeah no doubt... bullshit... I do have the odd bit of evaluating software and little snitch has never alterted me to a single plugin phoning home...so even if it logged every single keystroke..where's it going to send it without connecting to someone.

    Fadeouts and mastering

one that is inappropriate for the song....the wrong "curve" maybe, too quick, too slow...or even as was said...with digital, getting REALLY anal with the fade out and controlling how every track fades out individually to really sculpt things (that's how I would do it... because it's always nice...

    Fadeouts and mastering

yep. I wouldn't trust anyone else to make a decision like that. Minute details even in a fade out can make or break a song. (if I do a fadeout...which is almost never...I consider that a part of the composition)

Bringing it forward, pushing it back

or... eq verb eq phaser eq limiter eq :) I Like eq. hahaha and I don't know....I kind of like the sound of a reverb going on before limiting... it sounds demented,
