update: a PMU reset fixed it. PHEW! :cool:

I'll try a PMU reset. It happened right after I hotswapped a monitor cable from another computer. As soon as I plugged it in the computer immediately shut off, so I'm sure it had to do with that.

I went to boot my G5 for some audio production today and as it booted it shut down (before awaking the monitor). Now, as it is plugged in the white light in the front is lit, but if I press the power button nothing happens. It will not even attempt to boot. Anyone else have this issue? Is it...

Hmm maybe just sending it in would be best $100 is less than I feared. It's a little beat up from road wear (I've got to get a road ready rack case), so I'm not sure if they'd go for refurbished. It does work though just mostly cosmetic damage, one knob is missing and one channel is a bit funky...

Do you know how much I should expect to pay someone to fix it? Where might I find someone who might be able to fix it?

I wouldn't be surprised. It's beause the major labels don't want an alternative channel for distributing music that they can't control. In the past, even if you were indie, you still had to sell through a major label if you wanted to compete with major label artists. Now, with alternative modes...

I think the music industry will come crashing down in flames as they sue everyone they can in their last death throes for everything imaginable. I predict the music industry will be moving towards decentralization and self ownership. It'll be good when it does.
