    Terratec sound cards?

Hey F_cksia, I've asked this before in the cep forum, but didn't get much results. Because you've got pretty much the same setup like me, I think you might know :D... Do you record at 24bits ? And if you do, how ? I can only choose between 16bits and 32bits. mvg :)

    bitrate

Im using adobe audition now and i only have the options for 16bit -> 32 bit recording. My soundcard can go up to 24bits, which isn not available in audition. Woult it be worth to track in, for example, sonar, and then convert the files to 32bit so i can load them in audition ? Or is the actual...

    Hi Hat trouble

You shouldn't be playing with Eq, start playing with the mic placement, which is waayy much important. Btw, you'll probably need a condencer mic, no sm57 and make shure you avoid phase annulation. Less mics is better, unless you really need them and you know perfectly how to set them up. greetz

Variety of techniques in an album

Do what you think sounds best on every individual song. If you don't want your songs to sound exactly the same, you should try another style off playing, use different instruments, etc... I mean the recording is just a way to put your songs "on tape". You should find a combination of techniques...

Another request for suggestions concerning drum recording

You need to train your ears, just like you train them for tuning your guitar. When I go back in my old bedroom, where i used to record, the acoustics are awful, though i never noticed that before. The room's dimention didn't change. The point is: you get much more critical when you record alot...

Another request for suggestions concerning drum recording

Its aaaall in the tuning, do you get a good sound comming from your toms ? If you do, should walk around the room, wjhile someone plays the kit and place the condenser microphone where you think it sounds ok. Offcourse your room could be a big influence, maybe you should use some blankets to...

    home recording

You'll need a multi track program, so you can load each track individually into your pc, and then mix them together. Otherwise you can simultaniously record the 4 tracks with a 4 track sound card like the delta 44, ... cool edit pro (adobe audition) is a nice program, but it's not free, you can...

What to use for miking the amp

IMHO the b1 gives a more realistic sound when placed proberly. i usually place it right in front, 5inches away from grill, a little of axis. use your sm 57 to add a little touch that u find missing in the b1. You could also pan b1 left and the sm57 right or vise versa. and maybe add the...

    Mixer vs. Mic preamp

Will you ever record more than 2 mics at a time ? if you don't, you don't need a mixer. If you buy a 2 channel preamp for 1000$ you'll theoretically need 16000$ for a 16chnnel mixer with compareble qualities. QUOTE]Originally posted by Scinx Chess - I have a question. I have a drumset and I...

    Stero micing techniques

btw there's no such thing as OH bleed in recording. Your Oh's form the base of your drum sound, then the close micings add a tighter sound to your toms, kick or snare. Offcourse this is my (and most people's) opinion, some people consider the overheads only for cymballs and hihat. (like in a...

    what's a good alternative for the ... :/

It's probably been asked a lot before, but what's a good alternative from 3630 ? Looks like most people don't really adore this thing. Is the behringer composer pro any better ? I live in belgium so most of the gear you'll recommend (like rnc) is not available over here. -grtz btw if this...
