Audio files not found after computer move

If you haven't already tried this..... Make sure they are in the same basic folder on the new drive as they were before. Ex. If they were in c:\My Documents\songs before, and now they are in E:\songs\ ... that's probably your problem. It'll be fine for any new songs, but for the ones...

    Sound Absorption... HELP?

Sounds like you already know what you are doing. Apl is the only one who agreed with you. is that why you think he is the only one who read your post? Looks like you are looking for validation and not information or opinions. Good luck.

    Sound Absorption... HELP?

I really want to help you out.. but unfortunately there's no way to change the laws of physics. I think that setting up the drums as you described, might help some, but it is in no way going to soundproof the room. Bass traps are to treat the acoustics in a room, and really don't do much to...

    Alesis MultiMix 8 USB

I would say don't buy the firewire version. It may work.. but it may not. It's a coin toss, and to try to get it fixed/replaced/working will cost you as much as the initial mixer. (Speaking from very frustated experience...)

    buy cubase le?

I think if you look on the CD, there is a serial number printed on it. You probalby just have to enter that into a screen somewhere, and it will be 'activated' or 'unlocked'. I'm pretty sure you can't buy Cubase LE anywhere. It just comes as bundled software.

    Alesis MultiMix Firewire 8

I have that mixer. It is 'plug and Pray'. The firewire interface never worked.. even after spending the equivalent cost of the mixer in phone bills, replacement fireware card for PC, new firewire cable, the cost to SHIP to mixer to Alesis to try and get it fixed... they replaced it .. and the...

    formatting external harddrive

Have you tried deleting the existing logical drives, and deleting partitions on the drive first? Do this.. then 'Create a new partition'. Then format that partition.

    Rotten Cotton for Gobo/panels

I'm not sure if the link you posted is what you refer to as 'rotten cotton'.. but it is mineral wool. (says so right on the first page of the flyer). It is excellent for making absorption panels. Just make sure you wrap the panels with a breathable material (burlap or something similar)...

A reverse question about Cubase LE

http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=&webid=747530&affixedcode=WW Not the cheapest solution, but this usually works pretty good at fixing scratched media. (So long as the scratches are on the bottom of the CD)

You folks ever get tired of keeping this up?

:-) Not all newbies first/only post is either (a) "Check out my mixes" or (b) "I want to record at home, what do i need and what should i do?" I've posted almost 80 times (i think).. and still haven't posted any mixes. I will though.. .lol... when i get around to it. I have to say though...

    which monitor?

Definitely try them out if you can. But, if you can't (if like me, you would need to drive 10 - 15 hours to find a place that actually stocked 'studio monitors') here's what i think... Depending on what level your ears are at, it probably won't matter which of these you get. Read the revues...

    Rotten Cotton for Gobo/panels

I can't find the OC stuff locally either. I've used both Rockwool, and the other thing I've used when i could find that was fibreglass ceiling tiles. I just peeled the plastic film off of the one side, and stacked them up 3 or 4 high. Expensive option though. Was around 60$ Can for a box of...

Vocal mic for mostly untreated room

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?q=SE+electronics Something like this might help. It's a bit pricey though... i'm thinking about making one (in a 'V' shape) from rigid fibreglass.

Cool Stuff! I would recommend a minor investment (not really related to recording).. but some lens cleaning paper and clean your camera lens.:)

    Some Basic Midi Questions

Heya.. I'm no MIDI pro, but i'll give ya what i know. And let anyone who knows better correct me/set me straight. lol I have a M-Audio Axiom 49 key. Use it for drums, piano, and hopefully strings someday. There is a transpose (+ or -) key, so if i need higher or lower ranges, i can still...

    Alesis multimix 16 firewire problems!!!

:( I've got the Alesis firewire MultiMix 8, and after a TON of time troubleshooting by myself (I do computer stuff, so I'm no slouch) , with the vendor (Sweetwaters) and then with Alesis, Sweetwaters finally agreed to take the unit in or repair under warranty. Sweetwater checked it, then sent...

    Cubase LE 4 audio mixdown?

I'm not at my music computer now.. but.. i think i do something like this. Open Cubase LE, then go to the file menu and choose 'New Mastering project' (or something to that extent) Import the mixed .wav file. Here you can boost the overall gain (watch for the clip lights), add a bit of...
