    Which soundcard/interface for me?

I'll be recording just acoustic guitar, only up to 2 tracks at one time. I'll be getting dedicated preamps for each. I'd like the card/interface to have built in A/D converters, but I'd also like Digital I/O incase I get a dedicated A/D converter in the future. I will need some way of hooking...

Best program to use Drumkit From Hell

I've read that I'll need some sort of sequencer or something to program drums in DrumKit From Hell. What software would you recommend for this? I've been thinking of ditching Adobe Audition and going to Sonar, would Sonar be able to do this? What are some other choices, I'd rather have a...

    Soundproofing door

I have a small bedroom/studio and a noisy family. I'm trying to get rid of the sound coming into my room through the door. I nailed 2 thick blankets to the wall and hung them down infront of the door and it worked really well. Couldn't even hear anything. Only downside is I didn't have any...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Well didnt want to bump this thread up but the problem ended up being my room. I put some absorbant material in the corner for 'bass traps' and my matress up against the wall that I'm facing when recording, until I can afford some RealTraps or other acoustic stuff. The sound is a lot better...

    Fender Mini amps

I bought one off Musicians Friend awhile ago and it's pretty cool. Has a decent sound to it, not bad for practicing with. This is the one I got: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Mini-ToneMaster-Amp?sku=480860 It's actually really loud for its size and if you like the tone you may...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Well I used a Parametric EQ and tried to get rid of the boom and I think it worked pretty well, but I'm no expert with EQ. Can someone tell me if this sounds better than the first one? http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=D6CF2045690FD22F

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Thanks Daav, the only problem is I have my computer in the closet to avoid noise issues, so recording into the closet would bring in too much noise. :( I've tried the 'over the shoulder' technique and it did sound a lot less boomy, and more clear/even sounding, but my room isn't treated, and...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Thanks Tim, I was planning on getting a new acoustic soon anyway. I've been using this one for the last 5 years, and it's the first, and only acoustic I've ever had. I may mess around with the MBC just for practice, and maybe I'll be able to get a decent sound with it. One more thing, Tim. Can...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

    Thanks I'll try that.

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Yeah Tim I think the A note is naturally boomy. There's also a B note that's naturally boomy (I think B3) up by the 7th fret. What causes this? Is there no way to fix it by changing something on the guitar...like the action, or something? Or does it have to do with the resonance of the body...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

I had the mic about 15 inches away from the 12th fret. I've tried pointing the mic towards the head of the guitar and away from the soundhole and it does help the boomyness but it also doesnt give as much of a full sound as the 12th fret. I may just wait until I get a stereo pair of mics and...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Maybe it's my room. It's not treated. Or maybe it's a combination of both, my guitar might just be a little naturally 'boomy' and the room just emphasizes that. I've read an article by Ethan about room treatment but I'm still kind of lost because it's a little different for every room. Would...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

I only have one mic, a small condenser which is actually pretty decent and has good detail. I'd rather not have to resort to EQ because I usually make it sound worse, or less natural. Do you think it could be something with the guitar? My friend comes over sometimes and brings his guitar and...

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

I guess it just records that way. I've tried pointing the mic further away from the soundhole but then I don't get the fullness of the guitar.

    Boomy acoustic guitar :(

Some notes on my guitar seem to be more 'boomy' than others. For example, playing an Am chord sounds pretty bad, but playing C, or G sounds okay. Does anyone else have this problem? I posted a short sound clip of what it sounds like. Is there anything that can be done about this besides...

    Guitar practice routines?

I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now, never took lessons. I consider myself a decent player, but I still make a lot of mistakes and I'm not real consistent. Sometimes I'll play a song right, sometimes I'll make a few mistakes. Like sometimes I'll pluck the wrong string, or one of the...

What do you think of this setup?

NYMorningStar: Unfortunately I can't afford to spend a grand on just a soundcard/interface, I'm just trying to get the best bang for the buck on my current budget. StratKat: The room would be treated for recording, but I'd also like to be able to set it up so I can move things around as needed...

What do you think of this setup?

Also, I noticed the Presonous FireBox is the same price as the EMU. Which one would be a better choice? In the future I may want to get a dedicated A/D converter and would like to be able to bypass the interface's A/D conveter. I don't know what S/PDIF ports are exactly, but I know if the card...

What do you think of this setup?

:p Is this not a good idea to wait until after I get my gear? I really have no idea what to do to treat my room other then put bass traps in the corners. I read an article by Ethan Something on room treatment but I'm still kind of lost as treatment needs vary from room to room. It's just a...

What do you think of this setup?

After using an Audio Buddy, MXL mic, and SoundBlaster card I've decided to save up for an upgrade. After searching for awhile now, I've decided on a setup that would suit my budget. I'll be recording acoustic guitar only, and only 1 or 2 tracks at a time, either mono, or stereo guitar...
