I have the Lucid AD9624 and the DA9624.
I also have 16 channel of RME .
I love them.
I use DA via SPDIF for monitoring my mixdowns, it is clear and pristine.
The AD is used for recording the stereo mix off my Mixer when I mix outside the computer.
I also use it on really critical tracks like...
There are a dozen things that can be the real issue, but most are a stab in the dark without hearing a sample of it.
For instance....if when soloed the kick sounds good, there may just be a really bad phase issue between the mics.
You could try inverting the polarity of the kick track in your...
It is hard to tell you what to do without hearing what you are.
Obviously you will folks saying it is all about panning and EQ, but until you post a sample, it is hard to say.
I am on the lookout for a simple drum machine to use as a click track for recording.
Ideally it would sound more like real drums than some techno-dance thing.
Many folks I record just can't focus on a metronome sound so I need to make some simple drum patterns to have them record to.
I am...
Another tact to take is to localize the real problem.
For instance the mud can be due to it is part of the character of your Korg.
After 5 or more tracks the buildup of some character of the keyboard may be unexcepable without some subtractive eq on each take.
Another may be the input circuitry...
For tom mics you can certainly get more sm57s, but I prefer the EV ND308 series or ND4** series.
They look like an egg sitting a cradle, and sound great.
You can get them used for about $75-80 each.
for a little more my favorite tom (and acoustic guitar) mics are the CAD E-100 but even used they...
I'm still up for it, except Greg is the winner...can I try for second place?
If you are in texas you must be at Greg's...that is NOT fair.
Unless you are in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and then you need to come to my place.
Annoying pops and clicks are a regular occurance, it is usually...
Well.... It depends on what type of Bass Trap we are talking about.
Is a Membrane type trap or an absorber type trap and if so is it reflective on one surface and absorbing on the other?
Is it just the typical foam that some people think actually does something but doesn't?
How big is it? if it...
A slightly different take on the previous thread is copy the section you want spread to a seperate track and use a stero delay that has the ability to set seperate delay times for the left and right channels.
Set the left one to like...13 ms and the the right one to like 17 ms as a starting...
Another thing you can try is if you have a case for that kick drum (like a padded SKB hard case) put the mic in it and push it up to front of the kick to where the kick just starts to go inside it and then drape a blanket over the joint.
It will help a bit to get the mic away from the player...
Well.....
every microphone needs a preamp unless you are using a computer and you buy a USB microphone.
If I was going to buy a mic for Voice and amp I'd consider a dynamic mic like a 58 because it eliminates the sound of the room to a certain extent, but if you want to record acoustic guitar...
I believe the consensus is, unless your glass is absolutely huge, the tilting of the glass is only for the purpose of glare reduction.
Pointing it upwards makes it worse.
I know there are those that say parallel glas can set up resonating frequecies...etc, etc, but unless you are talking a wall...
At that thickness it won't be a problem. the 1"thickness of the glass will afford you the equivalent sheetrock thickness of 3 inches per side if sealed well. at that point your WALL or door becomes the weakest link!
I have 2 panes of 3/8ths and I have never noticed any issues even at that...
I don't think there is anyone saying anything about not making the booth akward dimensions. It will indeed help alleviate standing waves due to opposing parallel surfaces.
I do believe it is going to be extremely small for all the material and cost being put into it.
No Prob,
Hey I will make a few observations.
First off, that is a tiny booth, if there is a way to make it bigger , you will like it more.
A booth that small will have a very distinct sound to it unless you are able to kill off all the reflections inside.
If what you have is a typical 2 by 4...
Really... there is not enough info to make a good recommendation.
How big is your booth and what will be going on inside? Vocals only? amps? drums?
There are 3 areas of the booth build that need to be equal otherwise you have a weak link in your sound transfer.
If your walls can stop 70 db of...
Detector,
I hear what you are saying, but it is a little unusaul of a request from a drummers perspective.
I have always done just the opposite.
Listened to folks tracks and create drum tracks off it.
having said that, I have heard some pretty good stuff written using the program Band-in-a-box...
Dave,
Heck we all started out there.
I'd rather know where you really stand knowlege wise.
You know....you will probably get all you answers here, but one thing that could really speed you along is to list your location.
Sometimes ther are folks in your area that would be willing to walk you...
