    New Reaper user... questions???

So my only real daw experience is about 10 days with reaper. I have it running on a laptop with windows 10, i5, 12GB RAM and SSD. My AI is Behringer UMC 404HD. I am (slowly) working my way through the REAPER manual and watching videos... I am having a lot of fun, but also feeling a little...

Whole fresh set-up.... walk me through

Thanks, guys, I appreciate it. Computer will be here tomorrow, interface Friday. Should be a fun weekend, I hope. We have malware bytes installed where I work and the IT guy said it is good, so I may look into that.

Whole fresh set-up.... walk me through

So the new laptop is coming this week: Dell Inspiron 7000 with i5, 12gB RAM, 256gB SSD, 2xUSB 3.2A, Thunderbolt, and HDMI This is my first brand new computer purchase in over 20 yrs that is not an Apple product (my wife likes apple) and not for work (where it is supported by IT dept), so I...

fast i5 vs slow i7 for reaper...?

OK, last time (I hope). This one has all the specs as good as the lenovo, but has 2 USB 3.2 As, Thunderbolt, and HDMI and slightly larger screen for a lower price. Am I missing anything? Thanks so much for feedback. I know I am overthinking this, but I don't want to regret this purchase...

fast i5 vs slow i7 for reaper...?

So, I have been shopping for a while now and it is time to commit to buying a computer. My plan is a Behringer umc404HD into a windows 2in1 style laptop running reaper. This is for personal, recreational recording (and other basic stuff like email, streaming movies, web browsing, posting in...

Choosing a good value, new PC

Tracks, maybe 8-12 usually, maybe more. I know that if they are available, I will use them (human nature, right?) I don't know much about plugins yet, but I expect to use plugins for eq, compression, and reverb on tracks as needed.

Choosing a good value, new PC

I posted in the noob forum about getting a budget home studio up and running (here, if interested). Now that I have a little more idea about my hardware needs, I thought this forum would be a better place to ask about specific computers before I start spending money. I haven’t bought a windows...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Then again, the HP laptop Chili linked to has better specs than either of the SP7s for way less money. But I do have $125 BestBuy gift card burning a hole in my pocket...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

OK, so I know the Surface Pro is not really where I was looking originally, but I like the 2-in-1 for "tablet stuff" like youtube and netflix along with features of a PC for my DAW, being able to type when needed, etc I think Reaper sounds like a good DAW for me... cheap, beginner friendly...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Wow, this forum is awesome, thanks so much. I should have been asking these questions here a month ago.... I would be recording tonight!!! I can't believe the price on that HP laptop! I was shopping around and might have a good "open box" deal at best buy for a Surface Pro 7. It would be...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Wow, thanks guys. Reaper sounds like a good idea, along with maybe a windows notebook, or maybe a mac. I will shop on newegg a little and see how the prospects look. The Behringer AI is "class compliant", which I understand is good for mac, does that mean it needs drivers to work with windows?

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Is reaper : windows as logic : mac ??? What kind of specs do I need on a windows machine? I assume multi-track recording uses far less system resources than things like gaming and video editing. What is good for windows PCs these days to keep them secure from hackers? Something idiot-proof...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Well, I use windows-based pcs at work and I honestly don't mind them. But at home we don't have a family "tech guy" to take care of everything so well and I have had good luck with apples (long life, no viruses, etc). My wife is a fan of apple, but she has a new macbook that does double duty...

iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

I am new to the forum and would like some advice about simple digital recording gear on a budget. I want a basic home recording setup for recreational purposes, not a full professional studio. I’d like to be able to do the kind of stuff I used to with my Tascam 424 and basic sequencer...
