    Need to seal floating floor.....

Hi Luis - I'm not sure what you mean... do want to seal the joints? Or are you talking about adding a layer of something? Joints can be caulked with silicon or other sealant. Then add your second layer of ply with the joints staggered or oriented 90deg. HD sells a Pergo product that is for...

    Cool Recording Video

The band Spoon has a neat video for their song "Small Stakes" on their web site. All shot in their studio. Checkout: http://www.spoontheband.com Go to "linx" the video link is on top right hand side. Cheers Kevin.

    My favorite studio fixture

Nice (both of them). Do you have separate switches for them or are the tied to the record button somehow? Kevin.

    let see my control room

Good job Charoo - that is what I had been thinking too though what you now call "booth 2" is kind of square. Work on the booths next - try and make some non-parallel walls or use Johns wall units to break up reflections. Kevin.

    Fiber Insulation/Insulco Semi Rigid

Acoustically yes if they are thick enough. My biggest concern would be fire saftey though. I'm sure a quilt like that would go up in flames quickly. Kevin.

    Fiber Insulation/Insulco Semi Rigid

Charoo - Try calling local contractors or building supply places. Lot's of stuff can be used - Rigid Fiberglass, Rockwool or mineralwool even regular fiberglass will work if it is all you can get. Check out insulation dealers/distributors there. I have heard of pure wool and straw being used...

    What musical instruments....

Michael - I'd say, spend your money on recording gear over instruments. Certainly, if you see a great deal on a nice guitar, then go for it and build your base that way. Most people have their own guitars and would only use a studios if it was better then theirs or unique in some way. I have a...

    Up and running again

John your new site is really great. I agree with Ausrock on leaving old stuff up too. In Blue Bears case, you could list the new stuff as Blue Bear Sound. I really like this: http://www.smartdraw.com/resources/examples/floorplans/studio.htm Nice job! Kevin.

    New desk pix

Thanks guys. The funny thing is, I built it in the wrong room and realized after that it was too big to get through the doors :( .. fortunatly, the 2x3 piece was bolted on and not glued or nailed. Taking it off allowed easy transport. Not until after a fair amout of swearing though. lol Kevin.

    wall-ceiling

Luis - is the ceiling in "A" really the floor joists for your first floor or are you making a new ceiling? I sort of did A because the joists are supported by the concrete walls of my basement. I brought the walls up to the particle board/MDF and the sheetrock of the ceiling butts the wall but...

Can be found here: http://www.longsoughtfor.org/postn/html/modules.php?set_albumName=album22&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php I'd have to say it is from the "trackrat" school of desk design :) Kevin.

Where to put compresser in signal chain

Hi Rick - for tracking the bass, "better" is what you belive sounds best... you could do it either way you suggest, or with an external pre amp (even the line out of an amp) go: bass -> pre -> compressor -> tape (or board -> tape). I do run my (8) buss outputs to the patchbay, but my board also...

    500 D/L's per month

Sure - Why not? If you can parley even 15% of those downloads into a CD sale then it should be worth it... 900 CD's a year is great! I'd say go for it, use new material and keep the downloads there as samples but advertise the CD too. Kevin.
