    Cheap recording solution!?

+1. Okay, you need a mic cable and a cassette tape.

    Just need y'all opinions

Any guitar will be okay if you can play. But the Nashville Tele will probably give you more of what you want. The Jaguar is a good rhythm guitar.

I like a Shure SM33 a lot on guitar amps.

    Humid Air Question

Well, the humidity is not likely to harm your software... And it generally doesn't hurt hardware either, unless it's extreme. The exception would be condenser microphones.

    overheads...ldc or sdc

I'm partial to Oktava MK012s; good sound + modularity. If you can spend more money, the sky's the limit. As far as something to "pick up ... toms and cymbals without my cymbal wash drowning out everything else," that's more a function of good playing technique and good mic placement than what...

Help me choose a pair of SDC's

I like my MK012s; prefer them to my other SDC pair, Rode NT5. The 012s are nice because you can switch out capsules, as well as insert the -10db pads. And they sound pretty good!

    Stereo bars

You don't need to have one mic above the other, just as close as possible without touching. But your mic clips should allow you to have one above the other.

    A man of transparency

Umm... if you want neutral and transparent, don't use any plugins at all. I don't think there's a plugin for neutral and transparent.

    Wrist problems with pick..help

Playing music is not supposed to be painful. If it is, you are likely doing something wrong. The obvious guess is that you're too tense when playing and asking your muscles for too much force for too long a time. It's hard to say for sure without seeing you play, but that's the most likely...

    AT3035 better than NT1000?

I own an NT1000. I don't use it much because it's a little too bright to my ears. But then I'm a ribbon guy....

    scroll bass

It looks like an Ampeg AEB-1 with some custom work.

    Acoustic bass

It really depends on your expectations. There is no acoustic bass guitar that, unplugged, is gonna give you the volume - and fundamental - of an upright bass. It's simple physics. As long as you know that, okay.

anyone here likes (& plays) COUNTRY MUSIC?

Whoa there young feller. "Country music" encompasses far too much for us to be able to say that any one electric guitar is perfect for it. Yeah, if you want to sound like Don Rich or Vince Gill, use a Tele. It's a fine guitar. Just keep in mind that those guys would sound like themselves -...

    The Ventures...Pioneers or Hacks

The Fireballs! I have the CD of the Fireballs Norman Petty masters (Norman Petty was the producer/engineer who partnered with Buddy Holly on his earlier stuff, kind of a precursor to George Martin IMO). The Fireballs were truly innovative, but it's not music that will knock you out - kinda...

I really don't see the point in using two microphones on a violin. Most studios use one.

    Jazz Bass vs. Precision Bass

I've been playing bass for 35 years. The Jazz bass is easier to play due to its narrower neck, and there are a lot of nice sounds you can get out of it. I don't hold a "religious" opinion about which is better. I own both and use both. However, for recording most music, there is nothing...

    Unwanted bass distortion

I have to ask if the preamp is designed for a musical instrument, or for a microphone. Most bass guitars will overload a mic input unless you turn the volume way down on the instrument. Doesn't matter how much gain the preamp is giving you.
