Sounds good dude. That's one thing that drives me nuts about Orange - they make great amps and then they put large chunks of plastic right in front of the speaker - as opposed to off to the side like virtually everyone else. I took them off my Orange rocker verb 50 combo. Looks like you mic'd...

    RE20 and RE320 Used at B&H

I have an RE20, use it with an audient ASP800 and Joe Meek TwinQ. No cloudlifter necessary. Love that mic. Most recently I used it on female vocals. Best vocals I've ever recorded.

Their music sounds dull and lifeless to me. Maybe I haven't heard their early stuff.

Dude I really like the drums on here. They are relatively meaty. Agree the bass drum could come down a bit. The new bass line is great too. You really locked in on this. It's tight man! The vocals sounded a bit low at times - especially when they first come in.

Electric Pussycat - original glam rock (no, it's not about that)

Thou doth protest too much. :) This is getting there. Well played. Lots of energy. The thing at 2:34 is a cool idea but I feel like the execution is not great. That phrase should be in your face and all fucked up and loud. Right now it's kinda anti-climactic. The snare, hi-hats and bass...

The Vibrolux might be more what you are looking for. Or if you have the dough, a super reverb.

I'm glad you like that. That fill was quite deliberate but I was worried that it might sound unnatural or be too much. I wanted to do something a little different. Throwing a splash cymbal into the middle of the fill seemed kinda fun at the time. That section of the song is my fav.

Snare is a bit thin IMO. It's a tracking thing so that's on me, not Ray.

haha there's some cowbell in there. I would have expected somebody to say "what the fuck are you doing?!?" by now. We kinda slipped it in there stealth-like though. I wouldn't do it if I didn't think worked.

Yeah, maybe a touch. Don't make it too too different though. The bottom mic punches through the mix in a good way.

    No Choice

Listening to mix 3. Great energy. Cool song. I feel like things are really well sorted at the beginning of the song. At :49 it starts to get wonky with the palm muted guitars, and the lead guitar and vocals getting in each other's way. One of the three needs to get in the back of the bus. They...

    Subs wanted--Hello 1st mix

I wish I had a sub. My monitors go down to 30 some Hz. Sounds good to me. Nice and deep.

    New Tune - Rearview

Great energy. I like the vocal processing. Sounds kinda 80s, but in an Australian sort of way. Bass might be a bit loud. It drives the bus nicely though, so maybe that's a choice. Eh I think it's taking away from the drums and vocals a little. Like the ending.

i'm so lonesome i could cry

Sounds good man. To nitpick, it sounds like you have a good bit more reverb on the vocals than the instruments, so it makes it a touch less convincing as a 1 room performance. Love all the tones going on here - palm muted guitars, slide guitar, great stuff.

All My Ghosts - Frank Black and the Catholics cover.

Love the guitar and bass tones on this. They are downright friendly to the ear. What are you using? I like the reverbs on here - they give it a nice convincing live feel. No complaints.

    New Song (Original)

Strengths: Nice clear clean vocals, the 6/8 feel of the bass, the two panned guitar sounds - how they answer each other during the vocals, the ending chaos. Things I think could be better - the ride cymbal sounds kinda separate. Not sure if it's too loud or what. It just really sticks out to...

I really like the bass drum and cymbals on here. Snare and toms are a work in progress for me. I like the bass tone a lot, but I am wondering if the track could be tighter with the drums. The bass rhythms are back of the beat, maybe a bit too much once the song starts going. I feel like it...

Fleetwood Mac is pretty much what I am going for here. Thanks! Ray puts the bottom mic on the snare at a higher level than I do. But his mixes always sound nice and natural, so it's hard to argue with. I agree, if there is a little more low end on the toms to be had, that may be good. Not...
